Why? (Video) – The POWER behind what we do or don’t do…

Why?

Why do you do what you do (or don’t do what you know you should)? It’s actually very simple… and this video explains "why"…

  • I love your theme here, Jim – helping build your business more effectively. I was lucky enough to learn these things from you several years ago – and I thank you. It’s made a HUGE difference in my life – and I know that what you share makes a big difference in others’ lives as well. We are truly blessed to have you and your messages!

  • Hi Mr. Edward,

Well said Jim, Man! you are good. Thank you Sir for the great video post I really appreciate!

    Thanks Again,

    Albert

  • Kevin Halloran:

Great reminder to both strategy and the tactic of taking action. Nothing happens until you take action. The “Reason Why” motivates you through the inertia of procratination to the forward movement of taking the action.

  • Jim-
Very nice follow up to yesterday’s message. I really appreciated how you brought up the importance of a why being strong enough to get you past just basic needs being taken care of, that is my biggest challenge!
    That was a great message!

  • Another great video Jim!

These are wonderful shots in the arm to keep us all ultra-focused! And the why makes all the difference in the world.

Thanks again and again and again….

    Gabrielle

  • Jim,

Great messages. You are tops when it comes to saying what needs to be said in a few words and with punch.

I am loving these videos, and I know that you will be lean before long.

    Chris

  • Why?

Because I never want to work for THE MAN again.

Most of them had something very specific in common with cactus. :)

On another note…your grand baby is so adorable!

  • Jim, great reminder.

    Why Ask Why You Ask?

Because, the more questions you ask the more confidence you gain.

Asking why focuses your ultimate intention.

Your personal (internal) intention and your world (external) intention. Asking Why benefits the world and yourself

    WHY = Intent

Plus you get a goal out of the deal.

Asking why gives you permission to try

  • Jim, you’ve got another winner here. You have a great way of explaining things. The videos are a great ways of presenting your thoughts.

We all need to answer that “why” question and get our butts up off the couch and get on with out life.

    Great information!

    Rudy

  • Keep it going Jim; Somebody’s got to speak there mind and if I’m not doing it, it might as well be you! My young wife always told me I was an angry young man.. Now she tells me I’m a miserable old git.

  • Hi Jim,
    I just loved this post.

Reminded me of something I was taught a number of years ago.
They called it “Do everything with a specific intent”

If you don’t know your why, you’re probably not going to do anything. Finding your why is esential.

I always say, if you don’t have a dream, get a cause.
Find a charity that will fire you up enough to do something and you will see progress.

Thanks again for the great post.

  • Great post Jim. Asking myself “why” definitely motivates me. To me, the “why” is simply my vision – the place I’m trying to get to. It’s easy for me to get too caught up in the “process” instead of the “product”. Thanks Jim.

  • Austin:

All these online businesses, I sometimes wonder if they really earn money as they sometimes sound too good to be true.
    Iam I a scpetic?

  • Jim, great video. I first met you at BigSeminar11 and have been impressed with everything I’ve seen from you so far. I thought your weight loss video was pretty inspiring, but this WHY one really hits a nerve with me. I need to find a bigger WHY for myself and I think, I know you have inspired me to do that.

    Keep up the good work,

    Joe

  • Yes, you’re prefectly right. We need to ask why to give us the motivation to keep moving forward, and to ask why in such a way that we get a positive answer, and if we as in a way that we’re “whining like a sissy” we just simply won’t do it.

It’s difficult to work hard all the time, especially when you’re just starting out and not actually earning much money for all your efforts (like writing a book), but if we keep in mind why we’re doing it, and be able to see our goal clearly, it should be motivation enough to keep going.

    I’m enjoying your 5-minute videos.

  • Dang it Jim!
Another video with great content. And only content!
    How refreshing.
I’m already looking forward to the next one.
    Thanks, Ken

  • Annie:

Thanks Jim! So lovely to see the photo of your grandbaby! (I assume that was who the baby photo was!) he’s georgeous. As a new Grandmother myself, my grandaughter is the biggest WHY in my life, she is in London and I am in Tasmania, Australia and I just want to get back over there to be with her as she grows up. She is the most beautiful amazing wee thing in the whole world! (apart from your grandson of course!)

Thanks heaps for all you do,
    cheers, Annie

  • Breege O'Reilly:

    Dear Jim,

I’m enjoying your videos, and your humour, and your shirts (for which you need a sense of humour!!). Thanks for all the great advice. Some of it is so obvious, yet we don’t do it … thanks for keeping me focused.

Good luck to your ever-expanding family.

    God Bless

    Breege.

  • Marc:

    Deep but simple. Thanks.

  • Why?

Because I love doing this. Oh yeah, it also provides a good living that lets Rieko and me travel. And it lets me work at home, where I can bug her for a cuppa.

I can’t even imagine doing something I don’t like to do – ever again. Unless of course it’s fighting with a balky WordPress blog, LOL.

  • Sam:

Man! Now I’ve got Jim Edwards on my screen everyday holding me accountable to get things done.

Why? Because Jim says I need too, and that’s good enough for me!

    Sam

  • Flora:

So simple and yet so powerful!
Thank you for the great help this is to me.

  • Thanks Jim, for this gorgeous video. I mean it! It’s a great follow up to the Strategy and Tactics video. Kiss! Keep It Short, Simple.

    Jennifer

  • Mike:

A good tip on beating procrastination. Thanks Jim!

  • Louie VanReed:

    Jim;

WHY didnt’ someone make a video with a short concise message that so hits home with so many of us because of the sheer simplicity and truth of delivery — before now?

Because we lose sight of the simple stuff in search of the complicated. An attorney friend of mine told me one time, “If a contract is too complicated, something is wrong.” Same with life.

Thanks, Jim — for cutting to the chase.

    I personally appreciate your efforts.

    Louie VanReed

  • Why?? To which question I had many answers for my children, such as: Why?? Because I said so; Because it’s the right thing to do; because it will build your character; Because it will make you feel good about yourself; but I see that once the whys are answered with practical, down-to-earth reasons, the answer becomes clearly: Why? Why not?

  • A very positive message that we all need to hear from time to time.
Get along litle doggies, and GET IT DONE.

  • You can certainly put the punches where they belong can’t ya Jimbo?

Such a different way to get people beyond their whiny ways and let them realize how much that sabotages them.

Thanks for bringing it home to me to get that WHY out of my brain and into words.

    Great job as usual!
    Terrie

  • Love Love Love these motivation videos! Thanks for the daily short clips – it does wonders for my motivation. And Jim, you are the only person who seems to be able to get through to me and motivate me! My why is so I don’t have to pay $4.00 for a gallon of gas and commute for 2 hours a day. You would that would be a good enough Why!

  • Gary Gilliam:

    Jim,

I had heard of this WHY thing before and only partially understood it’s power. Thanks for helping explain it in a down to earth manner. Now that I understand better how powerful this truly is, I will be able to use it DAILY to keep on keepin’ on, with my business or my personal life.

You have actually sent a message of HOPE to all, thanks for all that you do. I look forward to more of this good stuff.

    See you at the top!
    Gary

  • Rebecca:

Great use of the Kipling’s “faithful six serving men”
(or at least three so far). These are the gents I turn
to when I feel I’m slogging through an info bog.

Keeping strategy and tactics straight are critical for
    generating and maintaining forward momentum.

The word choice “way” used in another post is covered by “where.” Where are you going? That “way”! Both
define the direction you’re headed–toward success.

Love your grandson’s smile. But is that a Cavalier’s
jersey I spied? Thought you were of the Green and Gold.

  • Hello Mr. Edwards ,

Thank YOu so much for YOUR Kindly E-mails and YOUR

comments. They are Useful and I will take them in my

    notice.

    Best Regards ,

  • Karl:

Great tip Jim, something I use to make the power of Y more potent is visualisation. Create the answer as a panoramic picture in your mind as big as you can and add full color and sound. You will be amazed as how more powerful it is….try it now.

  • Right on Jim! You rock. That was deep! It is interesting how the mind works.

  • Olav:

    Jim,

Great video. Your WHY needs to be strong enough to do something extraordinary. And your real, ultimate WHY is never money, and it’s ALLWAYS personal. When you find it, it will be emotional.

    Thanks,

    ~Olav!

  • Thanks Jim. That is a great way to look at it, simple but
important and sometimes you forget. That’s the way I look
at things too, there has to be a strong enough why for the
    outcome.

  • Jim,

All I can say is thank you. I have been trying to put my finger on why in the past four years I have lost my entrepreneurial drive.

It has been trying to build up my steam but this answers it. I believe that I have a product within me that can really benefit the masses.

But every time I try to get started, many things come up and diverts my focus. I will use this technique from now on.

You are more than a successful Internet Marketer, you are an excellent teacher & mentor and I trust you.

  • Jim Cotton:

    Big Jim!

Thanks…always loved your style – you’re very good at it.

The BIGGEST fault -mine VERY included – is in taking action. So your theme for this shortie is exactly on point.

    Great Job!

  • Good point Jim!

We tend to forget the main reason why we do all this stuff in the first place!!
