What about video for mobile devices? (Day 13 – 30 Day Video Challenge)
In this video I answer the question about the basic considerations when it comes to video and mobile devices.

Hi Derek,
Thanks!
Jim
I think this is something that far too many people are not considering. Personally, I use my iPhone to browse the web a lot. In fact, in the evenings when I’m away from my laptop, I use my iPhone almost exclusively when checking email and browsing. And, I always appreciate when sites either upload the videos to youtube or in the .mov format so that the video can be viewed directly on the phone.
As much as video is being preached (by those who sell video is the answer to all online endeavors) combined with how popular iPhones and other smart devices are, I find it very puzzling that one would shrug off making the video readily available to the millions of smart phones being used!
For example, by using only the flash format, like the videos on this site, I completely put off reviewing this very site by several days. I originally found this site on my iPhone and was at my highest interest level at that point. I easy could have simply clicked away (I did exactly that) and never devoured your site’s useful content because it is so video heavy… And, in a format not viewable on the iPhone.
I would assume that I’m not the only visitor that has felt this way.
So, maybe consider the video formats along side the abilities of the ubiquitous iPhone? I, for one, would love to view your videos away from my laptop!
Jim,
You just keep marching on with your great videos. You’re going to spoil us and we’ll want 365 videos from you (or Smacker whom I hope has a fan club).
The information you’ve given us is very helpful too and I think it shows that you can impart stuff to your followers in short little bites like this (and keeping their attention with these short bites too).
Thanks for once again showing us how it’s done!
Terrie
Hi Terrie,
Thanks!
Jim
I think allowing for this and taking it into consideration will reach a critical stage very shortly… and in some niches, it’s past that point.

If you want someone to watch your videos on the smart phones you need to consider the format in which is made available. iPhones will be viewable on Quicktime (.mov) and all others will be flash.
