How To Find Your Passion – 3 Easy Steps

Discover What Is Your Passion!

What is your passion? How to find your passion?

Two critical questions if you want to achieve success.

Passion is what drives all successful online businesses. Sure, some people get lucky. Others make it on pure hard work and dogged determination. Others get in at the right time with the right thing. But, for the most part, the people who really make it big online have found and followed their true passion!

What is your passion? Here are 3 Steps that will help you discover your true passion so you can follow it to success.

Step 1: What activities do you LOVE to DO?

The first step in discovering what I call your Passion “Sweet Spot” is to analyze what you love to DO. Define the activities you love to engage in. Take a little time and think about these questions:

What would you do for free because you love it so much?

What do you think about doing all day at “work” that you can’t wait to go home and get started?

What do you think about doing all week while “living for the weekend?”

What do you start doing and then turn around and realize 3 hours just passed in a blink of an eye?

What activity do you engage in that leaves you feeling MORE energized when you’re done than when you started?

Those questions help you discover you PASSION in action!

Step 2: What gets your emotions and feelings into overdrive?

The next step in discovering your passion is to analyze what gets you into emotional extremes. Emotion creates energy. Anything that gets you into a highly emotional state indicates potential for channeling high ENERGY.

What makes you REALLY happy? (I mean deliriously happy!)

What makes you REALLY mad? (Injustice?)

What gets you fired up and ready to fight for a cause? (A personal crusade?)

What makes you feel total bliss or fun?

What makes you feel 110% alive and “in the moment?”

These questions help you find the energy that will fuel your passion in action!

Step 3: What gives you intense satisfaction?

The final step in discovering your passion is to think about what makes you feel a sense of real accomplishment. Figuring out your passion means more than just whatever you love doing or whatever gets you pumped up. It means discovering what gives you that inner sense that you’re making a difference and having an impact on the world. That’s part of passion too!

What makes you stop and say “Wow! Look what I did!”?

What makes you proud of yourself even when nobody else is looking?

What do others stop you and say “Wow! That’s a helluva job you did there!”?

What do others ask you to help them with that makes you feel intense satisfaction?

Intense satisfaction helps put a powerful reason “Why” behind your passion.

Bottom line:

Finding your passion means finding the place where what you do, what you feel, and what satisfies you all converge. That’s your true passion. The kind of passion that can sustain you through all circumstances and keep you focused and “in the game” when things don’t go exactly as planned.

Take some time to go through these three steps to find your passion. Why? Because finding your passion will literally change the entire direction of your life – forever!

Hey Jim – great article as usual. I think I’ve been in the right field for the last 30 years or so because I could identify with all those examples – it makes me steaming mad when I hear about harsh dog training methods and people literally making stuff up about animal behavior and giving out information that does more harm than good. And I feel really good when a client tells me my help literally allowed their pet to stay in the home – just did one of those consults yesterday with a woman whose cat attacked her – 8 puncture wounds.

And you already know I’ll be on the Jim Boat 2013 – wouldn’t miss it. Thank you for all you’ve given to us over the years that has come from your passion. Anybody reading this who is considering the Jim Boat, don’t even think twice, just get on board. It will change your life.

Love your videos and teaching Jim – always have! Over the years you have helped me to refine and define exactly what I do and how I do it. I discovered my passion when I was younger and never believed that I could make it a reality.

It is so true – the difference between being successful (however you define that) and not – is following your passion, persistence and commitment. It isn’t rocket science! I know – I have a friend who is really a rocket scientist!

Always excellent concrete, specific immediately usable tips. So many people leave out one of the steps and, therefore, can never quite grab onto their passion. They know something is wrong but can’t quite figure it out. This interferes with their developing the business they truly want and creating the marketing to promote it, leaving success just out of their reach.

Anyone who can attend the JimBoat will recharge their passion and garner more rewards and satisfaction than they can imagine.

Hi Suzanne

I’d say that passion shows in the sheer amount of work and goals you’ve been able to accomplish over the years (Ex. BEN http://www.behavioreducationnetwork.com )

You rock!

Truer words were never spoken.
As I have gotten older, how my time is spent is critical.
I am on a quest to finally follow my passion and not just follow the dollar.
When you are young and raising a family, you needed money, not to follow passions.
Your post came at a perfect time as I am in the process of following my passion in a field that has always excited me and I thought of constantly. Now I have to discover the way to monetize that passion and excitement. Almost there.
Thanks for the reminder…..follow your passion.

I always appreciate your straightforward posts. Although I still have a passion for selling stuff what I love is golf and skiing. However I’ve always been discouraged by professional competition. I also enjoy the hotels and travel. I’m going to start using trains now I’m retirement age with more time and thought train journeys from a newbie point of view could be interesting to readers. What do you think?

Hi Jim,

Loved your piece on passion. It’s a big part of the vision I’ve been pursuing.

I so admire and envy people (like Picasso, Ray Bradbury, Richard Branson, and dozens more) who pour their passion into their product or service.

I recently ordered your “33 Days to Internet Profits” to help get started even in a small way. We own our home and have no major bills so I’m fortunate.

I plan on investing in your book on writing and marketing ebooks later.

I appreciate your simple down to earth approach in getting started. Thanks for the regular drips of helpful advice and encouragement to me and many others.

Carl

Hey Jim… this is huge. You mentioning this has really changed my life. I could babble on but things are a LOT better when you enjoy what you are doing, are proud of it and REALLY want others to know about it because you feel it will not only help them, but you’re super stoked about it and want everyone to see it.

YOU ROCK.

Ralph,

I think you just need to find YOUR angle… and if you follow your passion, that angle will come through… often it’s just your personality and enthusiasm that can kick the tail of the “professionals!”
