Have you “Mined The Gap” yet? (new video)
Jim Edwards here with another video from my "Idea Journal" I think you’ll really like!
It’s about how to "Mine the Gap" in any niche market to explode your business (and how "scarcity" can be applied to any niche market and automatically increase your ability to charge – no matter how "common" the knowledge might already be in other markets).
Plus, I reveal 3 ways to quickly make money once you see the gap (with a real-life example from one of my target markets)…
Thanks
Jim
PS – LOVE it? HATE it? PLEASE, feel free to leave your thoughts and comments about the video right here on my blog.

Great ‘Snippet’ of useful and accurately targeted information, no matter what an individual’s market niche might be. Plus, the more specialized the information into and for a niche, the higher the perceived value by customers will be. Keep the “gems of Jim” written in those journals of yours coming our way! They are appreciated.
Jim–very helpful and useful set of videos. After completing the mini-sites course, I miss hearing your voice every day. This is a nice, small amount of valuable info + encouragement to help me keep moving towards the goal.
Thanks!
Jim
I don’t know what feedback you’re reading or not reading but PLEASE read this comment -
Your Videos Are Fantastic!
Enough said – you get my point Jim?
Do keep producing these videos.
You are, in my opinion, one of the best IM gurus to follow for credibilty (you only teach what you know works), believability (you come across as genuine) and availability (you make your information freely accessable).
By the way – I love the presentation style of this last video – especially when your image is reduced in size and the ‘tips book’ is the backdrop with progressive text appearing. Do you do that yourself or do you have someone do that for you and – how is it done?
Regards
Michael Searles
Your videos are always refreshingly honest and direct. Much more about practical applications and much less about theory. I highly respect the obvious integrity of your marketing methods, which this video clearly demonstrates. Congratulations on your decision to offer substance over hype. All you students will greatly benefit learning from someone who really has been there and done that.
Hey Jim,
Thanks. I started watching and said to myself,
“I know this” and then you came up with the realtor example with the angle on autoresponders and apparently, “I don’t know this”. Thanks for the wake up call.
Tony
Hi Jim;
Great observations
ch
Jim,
You asked for comments good and bad so here goes:
Would been a lot more interesting if you’d have filled the gap with info about using social networking sites in business – otherwise it’s a great gap filled with info about filling a gap.
Don’t get grumpy … it’s only a suggestion!!!
We are using them in business now with some success and it would be nice to hear your take on it.
Trant
Video did Not work and the business oportunity probably doesn’t either
I’m a 7-Day eBook customer – a lifetime writer and documentary maker/director – but I just gotta tell ya that your in-person videos are a real inspiration. They make sense too:-)
Michael Knight
PS – I tried your “Problem Agitate Solve” routine in the headline and copy on this page http://www.buycontacthasbegun.com/newsletter043.html and I immediately got well over 100 questions to answer when I put the link out to my list. So there’s an eBook right there:-)
And a really appreciate your follow-up series on price setting etc. You keep doing this sort of thing and people will start to really like you….
Hi guys… thanks very much for the feedback!
Jim
Re: Ian – no clue what you’re talking about
wow – what a great breakfast addition. things to think of for the day.
Jim,
Once again, great insight into figuring out ROI potentials for tapped and untapped markets. Bridging the gap between understanding the information and being able to utilize the information is always the key to being in demand when it comes to being able to solve people’s problem.
If you just hand them a shovel, or a bulldozer or several tons of dynamite and don’t teach them how to utilize the tools, when and how to dig, what location, how far they should dig, etc. etc. you’ve really done your customer a disservice.
Because you’re such a “hands on” teacher, you stand heads and shoulders above 99% of the folks out there just trying to push merchandise and make a buck.
Keep up the great work!
Ron Schmidt
Hey Jim,
Love your stuff!
Your headline "Mined the Gap" caught my attention today, because I did a video called "Mind the Gap" for the promotional products industry about a year ago.
The material I covered is different, but complementary to yours.
You’re welcome to check it out here: http://www.topsecretsweb.com/video/mm/index_mm03.html

Great explanation of a solid business concept.
I make the bulk of money income off of “offline” clients by showing them how them can bridge the gap and use online tools to market their business.
Doug
Another great video with rock-solid advice. In niche markets outside the IM world, this stuff is pure GOLD!
Great job!
Gabrielle
P.S. While the video was playing, it paused several times to “catch up” before it continued. No problem. Just a minor distraction.
re: Gabrielle,
Thanks
not sure what is happening with the video… it’s being hosted on Amazon S3, which is supposed to have all the bandwidth in the world, but I noticed that too… I guess even the big boys have off days on their servers.
Thanks for the heads-up
Jim
Jim, thank you for the snippet form your idea journal. I don’t always open your emails as a time management discipline, but you make it hard not to as you offer so much in good solid ideas, and good example such as having and then using an idea journal.
Jim,
Great information. Many new marketers have a problem with “bridging the gap”. I hope to apply your information to my own site with success. Thanks!
Inspiring & true. You do good videos.
Jim…I think this was one of the best, most creative ideas you have ever shared. “Ian” who commented that the video didn’t work and that the plans won’t either is a perfect example of the short-sighted, naysayers out there who expect million dollar ideas to be handed to them with no work or investment of time involved. I always watch your videos, attempt to assimilate them, then let them spark the creativity in me. Some work for me, some don’t. But as Thomas Edison said, “I’ve never failed. I’ve just discovered 10,000 ways that don’t work.”
Keep on keeping on Jim…at least some of us appreciate what you have to say and benefit from it.
Very good video Jim. This is good information for those of us trying to grow our business.
Keep up the great work!
Hi Jim,
I’m really enjoying these “idea book” videos. Important business concepts, taught in a down-to-earth way.
It’s a very good point that you can take what is common knowledge in one field, and apply to another where it is cutting-edge.
Also liked the “teach it”, “make it” or “do it” principle for different revenue sources.
Tony
p.s. video was very slow coming through – even on high-speed broadband it took about 20 minutes to get through it.
Great info, love it ,keep it coming!!
Jim,
This snippet was awesome…not just for the GAP info but for the awesome use of Chroma keying and Alpha Channels. One of the most effective use of that technology I’ve seen. Keep up the TERRIFIC tips.
Sam
Jim,
That was great. What a great way in explaining it. Man yoiu make it sound very simple, but you have to be creative and that is where I am trying to head to. Being more creative and thinking outside the box. Thanks again.
Thanks Jim for the stimulating thoughts!
Where is the price setting series? Thanks Tonya
Thank you, Jim. You gave me the direction I needed to press on.
Great ideas! Keep them up! As always you bring the obvious to the forefront.
Hi Jim,
This is a GREAT video. It’s filled with info that we all know but you have a way of presenting it so it really sinks in.
Keep producing the videos. Can’t wait until your next “idea”.

Jim,
Now that was awesome! You’ve just verbalized something I’ve inwardly known for about a year! Going to go to work on some specialized knowledge. Keep up the great work!
Thanks again

As always you offer great insight and education in your videos. I just love ‘em…
Keep it commin
Thanks a Million

Nice insight into the secondary Internet Market’s!

Nice and clean, distilled useful concept. Thanks Jim!
Mine the gap was another great idea. You just keep coming up with these practical videos and I thank you for your efforts.

Jim you hit the “profit nail” on the head. I am now in search of making Predictive Analytical Modeling profitable. See my site: http://www.ProeAlytics.com. I have extensive practicle and academic (Doctoral degree)experience in this “knowledge gap” opportunity. But…I am not sure how to use the power of the internet to supply this service.
Any ideas?

Sorry about that website name … it is http://www.PredAlytics.com
Thanx!

Thanks for the Videos Jim, insightful for me, a relative beginner (bought your ebook in 7 days book)… now just to find some sort of niche! !!
I really admire you simple and no fussed delivery. I am going to impliment this into my consulting and “do it for them” as a way to “Mine the Gap”
I reckon it will put an extra $2000 into my pocket this month alone.
Regards Jeff Muir
Hey Big Jim, (soon to be smaller Jim)
Great video, just came up with a brand new niche business idea, thanks!
A gap in a niche I’m knowledgeable about needs to be mined, so I’m off to get me pick and shovel right away
Jules
You’re so right about the information “gap” between the offline world and the online world you mention in the example of the real estate business and autoresponders.
What is common knowledge in internet marketing circles is a revelation to brick and mortar business owners and can make them real money.
Many of the subscribers to this newsletter could be making serious money simply by selling their internet marketing services to business owners in their local area.
Kindest regards,
Andrew Cavanagh
Great work Jim. Thanks
Jim,
I gott tell ya, it is so refreshing to actually ‘watch’ a video
What I mean is, far too many people are producing videos which are just ‘power point’ style slide shows of text which they read out. That’s not a video – your video is a video.
Not only that Jim but your video was clear, concise and darn helpful with real good advice. Thanks and please don’t stop doing them.
Regards,
Michael Sherriff
I have watched this and several of your other videos thinking they sounded like just what I needed. But in the end I can’t see how your great sounding ideas apply to a physical product that has nothing to do with computers, software, hardware, or info. I can’t quite see or “get” the application of what your’re teaching and apply it to a small niche, physical, pack-it and ship-it, consumable product in the health/nutrition market.
Maybe this isn’t your “niche”, I don’t know, but who or what info would you consider “expert” in the physical product market?
Yes great video. Got my mind thinking of avenues I can pursue.
Thanks for keeping it real my friend…
Chris
Your videos sound very interesting, but I have never been able to view them. Let me know if they require special software or operating instructions.
Great Video Jim
Thank you for all your information, How the diet goin?
Damien
Hey Jim, Thanks for the video! I loved it. Made me feel like we’re on the right track. Also loved the comment at the end about ‘only having to be smarter than them’. With several guru’s in our niche, we’ve decided I don’t have to be the best polymer clay artist there ever was, just the best at solving the beginner’s problems. And we’re starting to do a pretty good job of that!
Hey Jim,
I always enjoy your videos and learn something new every time. I met you once in Orlando at Yanicks BirthDay Party years ago. You were kind enough to answer my questions and I was impressed with your integrity, openness and willingness to share your knowledge. I wish you continued success.
Regards,
Jim
I Jim, i have just watched the second of your videos and I just wanted to say that I find the info both direct and useful and I really like your no nonsense approach. Keep them coming! I shared one around my facebook friends the other day too
Thank you for your insight, it is much appreciated!
Sam
I really like your work.
As you approach The Big and Slender Jim, you might want to look at EFT for weight issues… It works, its fast and its FREE! Unless ofcourse you want somebody to help you… In that case: its Faster, it works even better and its reasonably priced..
Warm regards
Torben the sax-man from Denmark
Hi Jim,
We thoroughly enjoy your information as it always comes across professionally but yet down to earth… no boring insurance sales seminar here!!!!
We especially liked this tidbit as it makes perfect sense… caused another one of those “AH-HA” moments!
Keep em’ coming!
K&A
Jim, you consistently provide very high quality information! The snippets you give away, are really gold mines, for people who can act on them. And the “everyday-man-on-the-street” approach to marketing is brilliant. You deserve all the success you get and MORE!!!! I hope to meet you in person one day, B/C when I reach MY success, you are one of the internet marketers I’m going to give credit to for it!
your video on mining the gap is very good, simple, sensible and very well put together. I like it. Well done
Him Jim,
Very interesting video.
I hope that all Internet marketing newbies won’t only
watch it BUT implement your tips in their own businesses.
Kind regards,
Peter
Thank you for the tidbits of ideas and information from your journals. Mining the gap is such a critical aspect of identifying key target market areas, and you explain things well. I enjoy your videos (and webinars and ebooks), and find them very helpful as I’m building my e-business. My daughter works for me, and she’s listening to you in the other room. Dual speaker Jim Edwards. A bit eerie on an early morning, but good, all good.
Thanks, again.
Janice
Hi Jim,
I don’t have a lot of time to watch videos but I always love to check yours out because you not only give great information but they are always so entertaining!
What you are saying makes a lot of sense. It’s a lot easier to take what you already know and find another niche then having to constantly produce something new and as you pointed out it can be very lucrative.
Thanks for sharing!
This Video is a Step-Up and Here is why:
1) Great Title as Millions are being made by Mining Company Stock Holders right now… Copper, Iron, Coal, oil… etc.
2) You become very real with this video as it shows how you think and use models – Problem and Solution…Finding and Mining the gap… (you work at it, it proves it and it is not dumb luck)
3) and you take the audience deeper as you show how you are thinking and documenting with your journal – (That makes me feel Jim is authentic, the real deal and that is important to me)
4) I personally believe Modeling is what is needed to understand and solve problems (I can relate)
5) You develop straight forward parameters for your model, and then you get right into process… (all with in a few brief minutes)
6) New, fresh & wide – great metaphor that describes the mining (gold in that there gap) and creates a mental image… that image carries over to the Internet (once the gap is empty or closed… it’s over)
7) and, I like your Key Point – Theory vs Applied,,, (your use of video make you seem more applied)
9) and your presentation into D4U was smooth and logical…
thanks for the Snippet – I came to your site to see how videos are currently being used on the world wide web…
But now i am thinking about hunting a Niche
Moose Man
thanx for the luv
Hi Jim,
I love this “snippet”. A lot of my clients have a problem getting started because they don’t think they are experts enough. But if you only have to be smarter than the people you are selling to… then it translates to finding the people who need and don’t have the knowledge that you have taken for granted.
Now I am going to be able to point them in mining the gap, instead of procrastinating and hoping that something will happen… lol.
Thanks again,
Sophie Maven
Humor, Wit, Intelligence, Insight, Integrity, Personable, I like all your hand motions (but you don’t have John Reese’s ‘hold-the-ball’ motion yet, need to incorporate that so I can watch your fingers come together, don’t trust anyone whose fingers don’t meet)))), Useful Information…and you seem like a genuinely real and nice guy!
I’ll be back…have enjoyed several of your videos!
You Rock, JimE)
I’m with ‘Teracota’…Thanx for the Luv!)))
