Jim,
I’M WITH YOU!!
About to drop 20 lbs.
Turning 40 next month!
A friend asked, “How are you going to do it.”
HOW : That’s easy. I used to own a fitness center. The Plan is simple.
DO : That’s the tough part!!
Work out hard fatboy!!
Dropping the Pounds,
Paul
Hey Jim, hope you get to your target soon and painless as possible. You might want to (seriously) try eating vegetarian at least until you get to your target weight. All the fat and cholesteral in meat and animal products is NOT conductive to weight loss. Plus they clog your arteries and make you more prone to heart attacks while exercising. You will also feel better and think more clearly on a vegetarian diet. Take care.
Big Jim:
You and Nike are right on. Just do it. Do something.
See you at 190.
Love to all.
Steve @ 205
Ok Jim after I make the money I’ll join the Gym!
Getting a buddy was probably the most important thing to help me get going and keep going!
All The Best
Alex
You always ROCK, you fat man!! This is a GREAT way to teach! I’ve already entrained with your voice, but now that I know you’re a FAT MAN, I can actually TRUST you, too.
Wonderful!
I have found it is important to create the “habit” of work. Do a little something each day and create the habit of doing it, and then increase as time goes on.
For losing weight, walk to the end of your driveway and back again, everyday, rain or shine, at the same time. By creating the habit of doing that, it is easier to increase your distance in a month.
For your business, spend 10 minutes each day doing something to improve your business. The key is implementation. You already know more than what you are using. The goal is to increase output to try and DO as much as you know.
Hey Jim -
I’ve got a goal to lose 50 lbs. by December 30 this year – my birthday! So I’m right with you. Also, I’m about to “get going” on an internet business. I’ve been an eBay powerseller, but now want to expand.
I look forward to sharing progress on both fronts!
Good luck,
Bob
What does that mean, if someone’s fat, you can trust them, even in a general way of speaking, not literally? So if I have the thin hourglass figure I want, then people will be less inclined to trust me in my online business? Really, even if joking, this idea has to come from somewhere.. Does a person become more unrealistic if thin and fine, as if untouchable, like some god or goddess? And being fat gives a suggestion of being like the rest of us with some commonality to “trust”??
Left the page here after watching the video, and still bothered by this idea. Am curious. Would like to know.. this general mindset idea going on here. If someone thought it, others think it too, even if subconsciously.
Ruth
You go Jim!
This is a great metaphor AND the idea of working at it every day, litte by little is the KEY!
By the way, you won’t be sore for long. In fact, once you start seeing results, and you do an extra hard workout, you are going to feel CHEATED if you don’t feel sore the next day. That’s because you’ll start associating feeling sore with making progress.
So here’s to ALL of us stretching ourselves and working out every day – whether that be at the gym or in our business (or BOTH)!
Keep us updated on your progress, Jim, please. Looks like you’re shooting for an average of 2 pounds a week – very do-able!
Rah, rah, rah!
Gabrielle
Wow! Jim, you spoke directly to me today. I am a victim of “buying and storing” product. I have some of the best material in my library to help me to produce an online business but I never put “action” to it.
As far as the gym, I am just the opposite, I am in the gym every week and I have a great body. If I can translate my gym workout to my online business, I can become both physically and financially fit!
So Jim, I am going to join you today to bring balance to my financial life. Thank you for pointing me out!
See you on December 31, 2008!
Jirard
Jim, your video came at a great time. Dan and I have just decided we have to take a major fork in the road in terms of the direction of our business, so we did stub our toe – just like you’ll have weeks better than others with your workouts, but we’re not letting that stop us. Nor will you. Can’t wait to see your svelte self in a swim suit on the next Jim Boat! Your workouts WILL get easier, and we’ll get better doing things on line. Our best to you! Suzanne and Dan
Hey Guys,
I don’t think fat people are any more or less trustworthy than skinny people… not sure how that came into play.
I think that the big message here is that anything difficult really isn’t difficult if you:
1. Get started (take some action – ANY action – right now)
2. Break it down into small steps you can do every day
3. Keep at it (force yourself to develop the habit by scheduling appointments with yourself and making yourself accountable to others as well as yourself)
4. Stay at it long enough in the spirit of FAITH that it will get easier and you will produce better results over time
One thing I’ve noticed in the last 2 weeks, however, is how my awareness of what I’m doing has changed… what I’m eating (and how much)… what I’m drinking… and how it’s impacting me in light of my goal.
The same thing happens in your online business!
I can’t stand to NOT do certain things in my business (write an article a week – do a webinar every other week – launch a new product once a quarter) because I’ve developed the habit of doing them… I MUST DO THEM or I get very upset.
I’ve also identified the pattern of learning something new (like using new equipment or software) and the steps you go through to do ANYTHING NEW. They are:
1. Define what you want to accomplish (GOAL)
2. Figure out what tools you need to do it
3. Figure out what actions need to be taken in what order
4. DO something
5. See how it turns out (closer or farther from the goal)
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until you reach the goal
I KNOW I can lose this weight and I KNOW I’ll feel better about myself (as well as feel better about my life and have more energy to chase my grandson) once I get through it.
I KNOW it will happen and now I just need to get there.
You can do the same thing in any endeavor… but first you have to take one action to start the whole process in motion.
We all have greatness inside of us… we just need to reach in there and pull it out and USE IT!
Jim
Take action and apply yourself consistently over the long term. Consistent jogging for 2 years has accelerated my metabolism to the point where I can eat 4 meals a day and stay as thin as a rail. I’m 52.
HI Jim
Love what you’re doing…
Just one thing done over and over again…pretty soon it becomes a habit.
When it does…add the next thing.
Being the weight you are is all about the choices you make. Eat lots of high caloric foods and don’t move…get bigger.
Eat the right amount of the right foods for you….get moving…get smaller.
It is not rocket science…just making effective choices.
Now…guess I’d better make some more effective choices about my online business…rather than waiting until I know enough so I’ll be perfect right out of the box.
Ah-h-h-h-h the scourge of perfectionism rises its nasty head again…
pw
Hi Jim,
I always love your video Jim, Also liked when you say things naturally. You’re so right you need to do some work in order for this internet business to work, Jim as always your my Idol and your great.
Love & Prayer From vegas!

Jim,
It was great seeing you at Big Seminar.
Perhaps in the fall I’ll be the one cracking the “skinny guy” jokes (smile).
All the best with your workouts.
Take care.

Come on Fat Boy lardy fella
tell us something we don’t know – some real gem
AMEN! I have been working out for the last 2weeks for the 1st time in 17yrs and crazy as it sounds I have been actually following some action steps to an old internet marketing course I bought(sorry Jim it wasn’t yours, but I do have your vintage “How to Write an Ebook in 7days or Less”. I think I am going to brush the dust off that one and actually get off my ASS and do what it says. Thanks Jim!
re: mr highly friggin obvious
Okay – here’s a real gem…
“Stop looking for a complicated solution or method… use the obvious solution and don’t BITCH about it… just DO IT and make things happen.”
That’s the “real gem” of this post
Was that succinct enough for you Mr. anonymous-too-much-of-a-wimp-to-use-your-real-name punk?
Thought so
Jim
Hi Jim,
Hey man, I gotta tell you, you have got to get it in gear, your profile looks like my ??? bent over. No I didn’t say that.
I am getting ready to launch the electricalhelper membership site. Yes, it is very very close at this point and I have to tell you I have people waiting for it.
How do I know, well because I ask and they responded.
Yes, I will let you know, as you have been a guiding light for me.
I am sure, even though you are loosing weight, you will pop a button or two when you see this site. Just as you have set your focus on loosing some weight, my focus has been developing a tool that will save anyone associated with electrical circuits a boat load of time on each and every job.
What would it be worth to you, if you had a tool right in your home or office that would not only allow you to lose weight, but would save you two golden hours a day in time?
Yea, well stay tuned as this syndicated electrical contractor is about to show some creative laser pointed short cuts that will help everyone associated with the electrical field do just that.
It hasn’t been easy and it has not all been fun, but now that I see the light at the end of the tunnel, I can assure you it is all worth it.
God Bless and Good Luck,
Bob M
PS. You are a very blessed man to have such a wonderful family, so do what you have
To do to achieve loosing those pounds.
PS – once I lose weight I guess I’ll have to change my nickname on the blog from BigJim to Jim… sigh (old habits die hard I guess)
Jim,
You’re a baby – only 40! I have to say that now I turned 41 last week … makes me feel better.
Anyway, I have learnt to stop buying and hoarding, but I did join the gym over a month ago and have been once so, thanks for the kick up the backside and, I love the comparison with starting an online business.
As I tell my clients, if they have products from yourself, Corey Rudl, Alex Mandossian etc, etc, and they haven’t used them, they have to ask why working with me will make a difference. I know this breaks with the online convention of selling, but too many of us want to remain lifetime professional students so I actuall put people off. If they push, I know they want it and are prepared to work.
You go Jim Boy!
I think now you’ve started this you ought to finish it though … get a chart on the blog so that those of use who could do with losing the extra pounds can track our weight loss from now until December – I’m sure you’ll be able to do this and then create an information product out of it!!
Hey, if that’s a million dollar idea I’ve just given you, I want in!!
Trish
Jim,
I love you!!!
shh…. don’t tell your wife.
You are so right on:
* Thinking about it, isn’t doing it.
* Studying what to do, isn’t doing it.*
* Buying something that tells you how to do it, isn’t doing it.
* Reading, watching, or listening to the info-product you bought that maps out all the secrets to doing it quick, easy, or right, isn’t doing it.
* Attending seminars, isn’t doing it.
* Following someone who’s done it, isn’t doing it.
* Watching TV, exhausted from buying, studying, thinking, attending seminars, and following the one’s who’ve done it successfully, isn’t doing it.
* Wanting to do it, isn’t doing it.
* Visualizing doing it, isn’t doing it.
* Having someone say, “You can do it!” isn’t doing it.
* Even knowing you can do it, isn’t doing it.
* Only DOING IT, is doing it.
Of course, all of the above helps tremendously (with the possible exception of watching what’s on TV) if you’re actually… doing it.
Thanks for the kick in the old patootie,
Julie Isaac
Go Jim!
I DID start your mini-site creator program 1.5 years ago and made two sites (THANK YOU!) when I got side tracked by -Weight Loss Coaching Training! I’m back to the ebiz now and have bought your upgrade and am highly motivated.
To thank you for your wonderful program, I offer you free weight loss coaching over the telephone! You’re the best and you deserve to succeed. I can help you.
I’ll be back in town on Tuesday and can schedule you in.
Think like a thin person,
Nina
Wow, Jim … talk about going public with a goal! Good on ya!
I’ll just add that The Gym isn’t the only option.
For me, right now, it’s T-Tapp and Turbo Jam-style workouts.
So I’m holding the vision of you as “Thin Jim” and me as “Slim Sheila”.
Cheers…
Quintessential Jim Edwards. Oh, I laugh and agree! You are a little tubby dear. Still cute, but definately tubby.
Egad, I’ll be 50 in August. You’re a spring chicken at 40! The word “tubby” isn’t quite strong enough to convey where I am…. OK ya young punk, I’m in there too. See ya at the gym! Well, not really since I live 1,200 miles away…but as I’m hobbling down the street with my puppy I’ll think about you on that treadmill. I’ll loose ten pounds by my 50th or I owe Jim Edwards a free personalized video!
Now, if I can just stay out of the gym long enough to work on my internet marketing…
I’m going on 46 and at 147lbs. I wish I can Gain Weight!
Jim,
Fantastic analogy. I’m heading for 62 in October and have been told by my doctor that I am obese, Type-II diabetic, and in dire risk for a heart attack. I have had an idea about this for 20 years and have been meaning to lose the weight that would put me back into shape and a good state of health.
The funny thing in this is that I have been purchasing materials for a home-based business and intending to start one for the last 20 years as well.
You have convinced me that this is the time to step up to the plate and get started on both my weight loss and my online business. Be joining you online at around 175 pounds by 31 Dec 08.
Thanks for the encouragement and words of wisdom.
Jim W.
Hey Jim,
I really like your video. I have a lot of compassion for you and wish you all the best of luck as you get rid of the guts. By the way, It takes guts to do a fat man video. Now you have to stick with it so that you wont lose face. Losing fat is a whole lot better than losing face (And your face will look better also!)
Not saying your ugly, just overweight.
Have a Great day… in the gym.
To your Success,
Greg
p.s. I’m going to try an make some money from your video.
Hey Big Jim
What are you thinking. If you lose all that weight none of your Hawaiian shirts will fit anymore. You would have to go out and buy a whole new set then.
Seriously good luck, you will get it done.If the pain of your workout goes away you can always go out and stub your toe for a reminder.
P.S.Don`t get no big ideas to wear a pink thong like Dan Raine
Ken
A man of my own heart. I quit smoking a year and a half ago. Now I am 40 pounds over weight. Started a comic book site three and a half years ago. Have stagnated. Time to loss forty pounds and jump from $500 per month to $2000 per month by the end of the year. Thanks for the insentive Jim.
Dave
I love it when you said “Joining a gym won’t make you lose weight. You have to go there and work out.”
I’m a bit guilty of buying things and never “opening the box.” It’s amazing how many eBooks and pieces of great software I find sitting “unopened” on my hard drive.
They say that the difference between successful people and unsuccessful people comes down to one word – ACTION.
Recently (last week) I began to take serious action on my businesses, and the results have been overwhelming, even in such a short time, and the feeling of achievement is even better.
From the comments so far it looks like people are too hung up on the weight issue and didn’t quite get the similarity to being successful in business. But I got your point and it was a good one especially when you said “get off your ass.” I enjoyed the video and I think it was a point well made.
Now I’m going to get off my ass and do some more work.
WOW Jim! I wish I had my mini website up!
This is for all the responders.
I am a nutrition coach. My clients range from the pro athlete to the grandma wanting to lose her “jelly belly”.
Since I can’t reference my own website (YET!), you gym goers ask yourself this question,
“How come whenever I go to the gym I see the
same people, every day, for the last 2 years and
they look exactly the same???
Have YOU witnessed many (any??!) transformations at the gym???
The answer to that question is what makes all the difference!
Great Day!
Eleni
Jim,
I love your blog video…
Boy does it hit home. I have many things I have purchased and not opened yet. I am on the path of working on catching up to all this great education that I have invested in.
Keep those videos coming… They are amazing!!!
Hi, Jim -
Sorry to nag, but here’s a comment I made on your blog on
January 4, 2007 …
Now that you’ve made your public declaration
of being a lean and fit 181 lbs., what’s
your plan?
You’ve helped me. Let me help you.
(Just in case you’ve forgotten and to
establish credibility…)
The American Council on Exercise named
me “Personal Trainer of the Year”
and eFitness.com called me “the top
dog of the fitness industry.”
Let’s talk.
– Stephen
http://www.BabyBoomerFitnessExpert.com
My offer still stands! Let me know if I can help.
- Stephen
Thanks for the video Jim.
Yep, the answer is START!
My weightloss and health mentoring site for baby boomer women is not finished yet – far from it but it’s live and slowly becoming a resource for my clients as I add more info to it.
Just a matter of mindset and slowly replacing old habits with new ones by taking action.
By way of example, I had a woman who was basically immobilised after a spinal operation. Her first exercise was standing flat against a wall for 10 seconds (was all she could tolerate).
Now she can row, run, swim, use exercise machines and has lost 5″ off her waist 9 months later. She started. If she hadn’t she would still be parked in front of her computer, but another 20 lbs heavier.
Keep going man and you will knock it off sooner than you think.
BTW don’t go vegetarian, you won’t get enough vitamin B12 (proven fact in all vegetarians) and you may die earlier than you should (another statistic that is ignored).
I’ve been a vegitarian since I got married 44 years ago and I have not suffered from any side effects. dr. told me on my last check up that my body was 12 years younger than my chronological age.

Hi Jim,
You have also done another thing that works very well in motivating yourself to take action – you have made a (very) public commitment.
It’s the same kind of peer pressure used at all the weight watchers meetings. When you get on those scales infront of everyone boy do you want them to show a loss!
Same for you – next video or post we all want to see the new ‘Slim Jim’. You have said you going to do it so now you have to deliver ‘cos your reputation and credibilty are at stake. That’s a big motivation for anyone.
This kind of public commitment to your goal, made to an audience whose good opinion you value, will ensure you do whatever it takes to deliver the goods and not let them down.
Keep up the great work.
Simon
Jim, Thanks for this video. You may have just saved my life. Why? Because I joined a gym (again) this past January and have gone 4 times. I’m Fat, over 50 and fed up with this look. I also bought your mini-site version 2.0 and haven’t set up a web site yet. (I paid to have 2 sites made since then) but I want to do it myself for niches I’m interested in. So, I will pledge today, May 22, 2008 that I will go to my gym 3 days a week (more if I can) and I will choose a niche and have a web site up within 30 days from today.
Can I send it to you to prove I did it?
Regards, Hal
As always great info and great video. Oh to be 40 again!
You jogged my memory and reminded me of something my Dad used to tell me…Do something, even if it’s wrong.
That’s been my problem for about 3 years. I’ve been plannning my business for that long, own about 25 domain names, but haven’t taken any real steps to Do Something.
No more! Thanks for the reminder.
Jim D.
Jim I enjoy your way of doing and presenting things…you are a great teacher…believe me I’m about cutting a lot of expenses on courses, reading emails, etc etc…and concentrating on learning what you have to teach to persons like me that in 15 months haven’t made a penny with my present business….
Carmelo
P.S: Success in pursuing your goal of getting rid of those extra pounds ####.
Hi Jim!
It’s great going public – something about being accountable to all of your adoring fans
– And Julie Isaac – I saw him first!
You really may want to contemplate at least cutting back on meat to once or twice a week. I have a visual that isn’t for the faint of heart.
Imagine a big juicy steak, cooked to perfection, dripping with juices.
Now put that steak on your counter, turn the heat in the house to 98.6 and leave it there for 3 days (about the amount of time it takes to get through the gut).
Granted the body uses enzymes and chemicals to break down the protein in the muscle of the steak but it takes an incredible amount of chemicals to break down protein vs. vegetables and fruit. Sometimes our bodies just don’t have enough to handle all of the meat we eat.
Not to mention the fat, cholesterol and increased risk for numerous diseases and conditions – heart attacks and stroke are just the tip of the iceberg.
B12 – There is a difference between Vegan (no animal products at all) and vegetarian (just no meat). Dairy products and eggs are a good source of B12 so unless you are a Vegan you aren’t in danger.
OK – so yes, I’m a vegetarian
– and I get my B12 in Chocolate Ice Cream – A lady has to have some fun SOMEWHERE!
Warmly,
Gail
GO JIM!!! Your points and those in the comments are SO right on -
I’m gonna use this to help break the analysis-paralysis, interminable-planning-phase stuck spot —
-Nim
PS So how does it feel to have a cheering section?
Ruth,
What are you talking about?!
Congrats on putting it out there Jim. Very Inspiring.
Between Julie Isaac and Gail Trahd, I think your wife has less to worry about with you going to the gym than right here on your own blog!
Jim,
I am proud of you for calling a spade a spade. I will say there is a major difference in losing wt. and making money online. With losing wt. if you eat less and exercise that is a simple game plan, not easy but understandable. Not so making money on the net. Who to follow? which tool[s] to buy. What system to use. Create your own product or be an affiliate? use adwords or learn SEO. Pay someone or do it yourself? know when to continue or throw in the towel on an idea? how much time or money to give an idea? I think you get the picture.
Hi Jim!
You are truly an inspiration! I’ve made up my mind to drop some poundage, too.
You know, I’ve joined a gym many times over the years and then not gone. I decided I needed to make a different kind of committment, so I got a paper route. Now, 7 days a week I HAVE to walk my paper round. They’re paying me, so the committment is definately there!
In addition to getting some exercise, I have something to take me away from my computer for an hour or so every day.
On the business front, I’m making progress, too. I do enjoy the learning and have done lots of that without nearly the progress I could have made. Now, I’m passing on the temptations being waved in front of my face almost every week (food and product launches) and focusing on what’s most healthy for me – TNR and low-fat, high fiber foods.
Hey, you know, TNR really is low-fat, high fiber information! It may not have the glitz and glamour of some of the recent launches, but it makes more sense for me. I’ve come to trust and value more every month, what I get from you in TNR.
Thanks, Jim and best of results with your goal!
Jim,
I LOVE IT! Your new video says it all! The same thing
I have been telling folks for years about biz.
DO SOMETHING!!!!
I have one of my affiliates who asks me about every
2 or 3 months – “What is the BEST way to get started
marketing the program?”
I tell him the same thing each time. “I DON’T KNOW what
the BEST way to do it is, but I know one thing, if you
don’t get started doing SOMETHING, you will be right
where you are next month (or next time he asks me the
same question – which he is – nowhere). Just DO IT!
Doug
Thanks Jim. I needed that. I’ve got the website and the ebook and have been trying to submit articles to at least 3-4 sites everyday, but have had no response. I was getting discouraged, but I’ll just keep on learning and trying.
Keep up the good work – get healthy for yourself and for your family. That grandson needs his grandpa to be around for a long time.
Kristy
Great Video! Probably your best – & I’ve been watching your stuff for many years
Don’t forget about eating right. Since you’ve given me so much over the years, contact me and I’ll be happy to send you my High Energy Eating package so you won’t be faced with this problem again. It’s the least I could do after all you’ve given us.

Jim,
yah yah yah. I’ve heard before. You say this every year. I’ve been checking you for at least five years, and you mike stewart say you need to loose weight every year. Frankly I’m appauled by your lack of discipline. Man up buddy, make it happen. Stick to it and do it. Make a fool out of me.
I know you can do it and so do you. NO eating after 7PM, exercise at least 3 times per week and for your sakes don’t decide if your going to go to the gym, BUT what you are going to do when you get there! MAN UP
Wishing you the best 2008. 48/6′3/200lbs
Enjoyed your video Jim. And how strange it is for me to view the video as you are an expert in internet marketing talking about the gym; when I am on the flip-side, as I am a personal fitness coach working on developing my internet marketing skills.
I completely agree with you Jim.
Now drop and give me 20! Come on, feel the burn. Oh the sweet pain. You can do it! Ah to heck with that, now you have me craving the banana split, thanks a lot Jim. LOL
I congratulate you on being upfront. Your information is always insightful and practical.
And I am certain you will reach your goal. If you need any assistance, give me a holler. I would be glad to help.
James
Hi Jim,
Being 40 something myself I know where you’re coming from. I’ve been loosing about a pound a month. You’ve motivated me to do more! I’m going for 2 pounds a month or 180 by the end of the year.
Thanks,
Dave
Oh Yea, and put up more mini sites and make more products and drive more traffic and…
Hey Jim, congrats to you – not just for doing it but for going public with it the way you have. Funny, I came across your email right after posting to my own blog (at sharontucci.com) about starting to use WII Fit. I turned 40 in December myself. I’ve been finding it more difficult to have my active days and increasing vacation days and regular workouts weren’t enough anymore. I needed something to just get myself out of my office and moving a bit more. I wrote some tips on weight loss at my blog from the food side.
Good luck and keep us posted!
A DIET CHALLENGE:
Jim, my chubby internet marketing compadre,
I am afraid I am 10 years your senior but I too have been out of the gym way too long and the pounds have found there way around my waist and I am a long way from a size 32 pants.
I have an internet diet challenge for you, a little friendly dieting competition and motivation. I also have about 50 lbs. to lose. How about a contest to see who can lose the weight the quickest and if I win, since I am a newbie trying to make my first buck online, I can use some personal mentoring, and if you win, how about I work for you virtually for a set period of time, whatever you need done, I will do it for you at no cost.
I can really use some motivation to lose this weight and as you probably know the older you get the more difficult it is to lose it. So if you are up to the challenge give me a shout and we’ll weigh in and may the best man win.
Great post Jim and just the kick up the backside that most of us need from time to time.
I’ve just set some goals to work more consistently on my business and also to workout consistently too, so you have inspired me to keep going!
Looking forward to seeing the realisation of your (and mine) goals!
Thank YOU so much for YOUR comments ,but don’t worry about me,because I am not FAT.
Best Regards ,
Prince HADY SAMADY
Hi Jim,
I think you’re a great inspiration, I met you at your seminar near Heathrow in London. I enjoyed every bit of your seminar and have read many of your ebooks, I’m quite a fan of yours actually. My boyfriend thinks you’re a fraud, pyramid seller, a looser, you’re site is all hype. He gets me mad, I would like to show him something from an independent source that is not the case, some way of gauging the popularity or success of any business or individual, what could you recommend so I can shut him up for good
Hey Jim, I loved the look of that Dairy Queen offering so much that I was licking the screen when my partner walked in.I told her it was o.k ‘coz it was from you. She just said ” oh “and left the room in a hurry. ( Do they sell them on line ) ?
yES SORRY TO CONCUR – YOUA RE fat! I hated thinking this when i saw your last video wiht Mike (who is even FATTER and looks even WORSE so if your reading this Mike get up off YOUR butt and do what Jim is doing!!!)
ME too though I have been maybe 8kg over weight, looked awful – even though compared to most i was trim, and started going to the gym in the Body For Life Programme.
six days a week and havent misse d day for eight weeks!
Now i dont have chubby cheeks.
So well done Jim – nuff respect.
PS I am fatter than you, me or Mike in a finacnial sense so need to get into shape and KCIK ASS DAILY !!!!
you have inspired me!
Re: Cathy
The best way to shut him up is to get great results yourself. You’ll be amazed how many of the doubters all of a sudden become your biggest fans once you are successful.
The best revenge is massive success
Jim
I love it! Fantastic analogy!
Thanks for clearing up the part about “paying for a gym” membership. I’ve done that too and didn’t lose any weight either…now, I know better.
Great video Jim.
I’m in the fitness industry and I tell all of my clients that one of the most important factors in their success will be social support, or the people they surround themselves with. (And you’re right, the same thing applies to my online biz.)
There are plenty of negative people who will try and sabotage your efforts to better yourself, and you just need to avoid them, plain and simple. Surrounding yourself with supportive people, like your wife, will make all the difference in the world.
But, as you said, whether in business or the gym, you need to get off your ass and do something. Congrats on making the commitment to drop some weight. You’re 40, so you’ve still got a long way to go. You’ll be amazed at how much better you’re going to start feeling soon if you are consistent with your exercise program. Remember though, that exercise is only half the battle. Less than half actually. You need to eat right as well. And that does NOT mean going on a crazy fad diet. It means learning to eat in a healthy way that you can do for life.
If you need any help with your fitness goals, feel free to ask. This is what I do all day. You can get plenty of exercise and nutrition info at my site if you like.
Best of success Jim,
Dave Soucy

Jim, I love your honesty and direct approach! You bet, you got this right. As a training pro, I see thousands of people come into my programs. They get excited. They are entertained and turned on during the session. I try to make the same point, but use the 2×4. Perhaps, that’s what it takes!
1. I love food
2. I’m not into exercise.
Not sure how we fix that.
I lost 50 lbs a day for a week and now I’m invisible!
Just kidding
Thanks for that video. It’s nice to know that you were once in the same boat I’m trying to get out of now!
Congratulatins for taking the first step. I’m 43, Fat, and Fed up. I quit corporate america last week (after 20 years in the trenches). I have 2 goals:
1)Get my online business up and running to make up for the money I just walked away from and…
2)Drop 45 pounds by 12/31/08 to reach my target weight of 180.
I know what you mean about Ivan the Terrible – I just finished my 5th straight day of working out – I haven’t been that consistent since my college days. It’s painful – but a “good” kind of pain.
Go For It Jim!!
I’ll see you at the finish line!
mike
Hey Jim,
Good For You. I’ve been saying the same thing. My problem is I start, then something interrupts the plan and it’s hard to get back on track.
I guess the real message is “priorities”, and not letting anything get in your way to keep you from reaching your goal. That goes for dieting, E-Booking, Web page making (yes I have started them all) or whatever you have your eye set on.
Thank You Jim for all your inspirations.
Vicki
Once again, Jim you hit the nail right on the head. Although not at Lowe’s in the lumber dept., thank heaven. All the book learning, program buying and good intentions in the world don’t mean squat if nothing makes it onto the computer.
Thanks for a valuable(and very entertaining)lesson.
Sonrisas,
Beth
Hey Jim,
You HAD to go bring this “fat” thing up. I switched to an organic diet a few months ago, joined the gym, etc. and dropped 30 lbs in 2.5 months (my wife thought the same thing…btw). Of course, I kind of fell off the wagon over the past few weeks and gained a few pounds back. STILL have the membership so I really NEED to get back to it (damn I hate those ellipical machines).
Thanks a LOT man!
Tony
Hi Jim,
Thanks but my boyfriends already a fan of mine, lol, I just want to convert him to be a fan of yours too. He drives me nuts & says you probably only sell a couple of ebooks a day! Do you know of a site that somehow measures the success of individuals like yourself, so it’s independent information, somewhere that verifies that you’re a successful business person, I want to show him proof that you’re not a fake
Hey Jim — Thank you for the great video! You are once again making a brave and bold statement. I chuncked up myself during college — and I am a former fitness trainer! It happens to the best of us.
It’s not impossible to lose weight when you have the right tools, just like it’s not impossible to make it out here on the web. You may need to kick a few tires, but determination keeps the rubber to the road. Thank you again for being an inspiration for all of us.
Stay focused, take your daily walks. Eat less and move more. If you need support we’ve got your back, just like you’ve had ours over the years…
Blessings,
Laura

Dear Jim,
You always make me laugh. Toooo… True! At 60 and fat and unsuccessful on the internet after 5 or so years of trying this and that and buying every guru in sight…
50 lbs. sound just about perfect.
Joy
Lots of motivating posts here. To cut to the chase, let’s all put a little shelf on the handle bars of our stair-stepper that will hold our laptop and get thin, trim and wealthy!
Judie
P.S. Ruth: get over yourself!!
DO SOMETHING
Get it Going
Make it Happen
Seems to me a gym membership will make a perfect match with online marketing. I’m spending way to much time in front of the computer. The time spent doing something active should help to get my marketing work done faster. Thanks for the motivation.
Great video Jim,
The world is full to the brim of untapped potential! Your message is compelling; it is virtually impossible to be successful at anything (even if it is illegal), without taking ACTION! It proves that the Masses are lacking essential Personal Development skills, hence see my link. Your video has stirred me to take more action online (see>> http://tinyurl.com/5bnwxh ) and go to the gym to get the good BOD! Cheers.
Hey Jim,
We’re with you, man! Nothing like stating a goal publicly to motivate yourself to make it happen.
I have no doubt you will pull it off.
Best,
db
Right on!
I hope you are getting results, as always. Here is a little of help with this program that is working for so many people and specially the ones who love internet. If you want to try it my sponsor name is maxiteam. http://www.befitdolife.com Good Luck.
Hi Jim!
Congrats on joining the gym and making the commitment to go. If you want a virtual buddy – get in touch with me. I just started back at the gym this week too.
Love the video – great reminder that success requires getting into action, not just sitting around. There’s no magic pill or secret formula that doesn’t require a little bit of sweat and pain.
Good luck with your new routine!
Deborah

Jim,
You know we love you no matter what size you are. and I agree with Terri – there’s all those babes at the gym that would certainly want to pick you up. i’m thinking of moving back to virginia just so I can join your jim…oops you gym and hope you’ll pick me up..just teasing.
Thanks as usual for putting this in a way I can identify with (the pain of the new business). Not only do you experience the pain when you begin working out, you wont be as effective if you dont know how to do the exercises correctly…the real reason for trainers (whether it’s in person or books or just watching the pro’s) – and that’s why we need mentors like you – to help us train our brain and business muscles the correct way, the first time, so that we make the most of what we do! You are the best trainer in the world. We are all behind your efforts. And I’m on the bandwagon with ya!!!!
Terrie
God Bless you Jim for finding the perfect metaphor for starting an online business. The entrepeanurial world, and the world in general is better off from your having been in it.
As a sidenote, I know about weight loss like you know about online marketing, and I’m here to tell you that you don’t have a fat problem. You have an acid problem! We need to take a long hard look at what you’re eating, drinking, breathing, and even thinking that is resulting in your body’s internal pH level and blood being acidic!! What we will likely find is that your current life choices (most likely in the food and beverage areas) are acidic. The bodies defense against acidosis (the condition where the body is over acidic) is to store the acid toxins in fat cells for your protection.
That you are overweight right now is actually great news because it is evidence that your body is working correctly…for now. Simply restore your body’s pH level to one that is more alkaline and your fat cells will disappear because they will be “out of a job”.
Since it is very challenging for one to change his/her acidic lifestyle choices overnight, the easiest quickest way to start shifting the pH in our bodies is to drink Alkaline water. Anybody can do this!! Everyone drinks water.
I have experienced such value from drinking this water and am so in touch with its foundational benefits that I have made it my life “ministry” to share it with anyone who has a strong desire to experience vibrant health and wellbeing as well as just losing weight. This is an unknown secret that is just becoming available to the world.
Bottom line is this…Acid = Disease since it is the ideal environment for mold, parasites, yeast, and viruses…and Alkaline = optimal health and wellbeing. Phase out the acid forming choices and phase in the alkaline forming choices. It doesn’t get any simpler, Jim…not too much unlike your online marketing programs.
You can view an awesome 15 minute informational video that explains all of this at http://www.WaterThatHeals.com
And the best part of this is that a person can have an unlimited supply of this water, the “Operating System” that makes all the “Application Software” out there run better, for around $40/month!!!!!
Why “Weight” any longer??!!
Good luck, Jim
Louis
I could not have said it better Jim “Get off your Arse” something always seems to get in the road, I’ve blamed this and that, I met you in Australia in 2004 bought your package which is unbelievable content, got some coaching from one of your’s or Yanicks apprentice’s ( Steve Quartermaine ).
Still no result’s ( there is a story to this which I best not tell ) but my bricks and morter business which I’ve owned for the past 20 years has been a nightmare to which I could not shake.
Until NOW. Yes it’s finally sold.
Now I’ve got the time and the focus, so if I stuff it up and don’t get of my arse, there can be no more excuses except to look into the mirror.
There’s many a con man within this world we live in, to you Jim I cannot praise you enough. Now I will read all your emails without other members of the family deleting them.
Thanks Dave
You go Jim!!
But seriously great advice for anyone trying to make it online.
Yep you gotta take action it’s that simple.
I took action following your UK seminar about 2 years ago and now have a great internet business making me over $3000 per month and growing.
Cheers
John Hillage
Loved it…what a great anology! It’s funny though…I have a Fitness and Nutrition Coaching Business and have worked with plenty of very successful business people, who are in the same situation as yourself. I have no trouble motivating myself to train or to eat properly…the business side of things is another matter altogether! I have oodles of books and e-books to get through…I guess I need a taste of my training medicine applied to the business side of things! Right…time to kick my own butt!!
Thanks for the wake-up!
Great video Jim.
There is nothing more important than getting off your arse and taking action.
You learn by doing and all the ebooks, audio and videos in the world won’t change that.
Kindest regards,
Andrew Cavanagh
Hi Jim!
My name is Mark A. Newsome and throughout the years I have both read and purchased several of your excellent products!
The only reason for this brief message is to let you know that unlike alot of online & offline infoprenuer marketing specialist.
You seem to be able to continue to be a regular ” Jim ” who has made it, but you haven’t gone “Hollyweird ” and starting acting like you believe the hype!!
Some of online people are just too full of themselves!
I love the way you dress, you are just being who you really are, even though you seem to downplay your success!
And you try to come off as unsophisticated looking!
When clearly you are very sophisticated!! kinda like the Beverly Hillibilly finds success!
But through it all you offer the ” real deal ” on what it takes to be successful both on or offline!
Thanks!!! On behalf of all the proactively struggling online newbie’s everywhere, you Sir are a desperately needed breath of fresh air!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mark and everyone else who has left positive and encouraging comments, thanks
I really appreciate it.
Oh, Update on Weight Loss:
Have been consistently going to the gym and watching what I eat for 5 weeks now and have lost 13 pounds. I know that rate will slow down a bit, but my endurance has gone through the roof… so I’m really happy about that
“Slim Jim”
Hi Jim. I found your video very funny and your message excellent! As you know, the pain is what stops most people from achieving no matter what field they choose in life. I found the best way to overcome the pain is to find a mentor or coach who will not let you make excuses and keep you accountable. While everything you say is true and logical, it is not enough to overcome the pain barriers for most people. We all know what we should do, but we make up excuses for not doing it! What is needed is a well respected and unreasonable friend who will challenge the “stinking thinking” that holds most of us back. The great thing about taking small action steps, is that they build confidence in your ability and that in turns will build the momentum to keep you going.
Thanks for the great video clips and ideas. I look forward to watching some more.
Great tip Jim. Thank you. It really pertains to me. You let me know that its ok that it may feel painful in the beginning.
I tell my fitness clients the same; they probably won’t be an expert at working out right away but if they keep at it they definitely will get good at it.
I needed to hear it from someone who’s done what I want to do.
Thanks again
Hey Jim,
My experience has been that in order for someone to change what they are doing, they have to be in pain. And the pain needs to be bigger than the effort it takes to eliminate the pain.
I feel your pain! I am also fat, low on energy… and almost exactly at the same time as you, have embarked on a quest to fit into my clothes I wore 10 years ago. 2 sizes…
I bought a mini trampoline and have been jumping around a few times a day, have cut back on sweets, and have dropped about 5 lbs… I am very proud of myself.
Congratulations, and you cracked me up with that “dating at the gym” stuff… ha-ha.
Anyway, the only reason I am writing, because I heard the “ehh” sound you made off camera before you shut off the sound… I feel your pain.
These internet wannabees are a tough crowd, they buy, they buy, they don’t do…
I have been thinking of starting an internet kindergarten for them… What do you think?
Love,
Sophie of Syracuse
