Did Jim Rip-Off Ed Lover? (Wrap up 30-Day Video Challenge)

Did I rip off Ed Lover? You be the judge.

Also, do you want me to answer your questions (submitted via video) every Wednesday?

-

Let me know below if you want me to do that for you! Also, let me know if there’s anything specific you want me to teach you on the webinar on Feb 25th. We’ll have the sign-up for the webinar available late next week!

Hi Jim,

I agree – I think it’s a cool idea!

Boo hoo… I cannot be available on 2/25 evening. Please provide a link to view afterwards.

Also, I need all the easy tricks I can get for videos. I’m a real video novice & yet I need to put together lots of ‘em for my blog & a new membership site.

February 11, 2010

Hey Jim! I think the idea is a great one! We submit questions and comments by video and you answer them by video. And, I think the cardboard sign is much better than a high production professional looking one by showing sincerity rather than a commercial objective in the message. The reversed letter also helps that, in my opinion.

February 11, 2010

Hey Jim,

Don’t leave comments too often but I just wanted to say I think your 30 day video challenge was awesome and I plan to follow the idea in the near future. Looking forward to the webinar.

Thanks,
Logan

Hey Jim,

Great series and excellent example of taking positive action in a business.

I think the idea of submitting a video question is great and I also think you are going to get more than you expect :)

Look forward to the next installment, have a great day.

Pat on the back for Stella as well, would still like to know what video editor package you use.

Ian

February 11, 2010

The video Q & A is an awesome Idea. Stella is doing a GREAT job btw. I’d love to be a part of the QV&AV.[queveenavee]. Please let me know where to send my QV or where to send embed code.
LOVE YOUR STUFF!!
I know you hold back to please the majority of the masses but in person I’m guessing YOU ARE A TRIP!!
Thanks,
Mel

February 11, 2010

Great idea! It will get us to a great comfort level of BEING in a video and working with video editing etc.

Can’t wait till the 25th!

February 11, 2010

Hi Jim,

I think your idea for the Q&A is COOL!!!!!

Also, I enjoyed and learned from your 30 day video challenge.

Looking forward to the Feb. 25 webinar wtih Mike.

Thanks,

John

Love, love, love it! Gr8 idea. But, then again, I also love video marketing…such a powerful tool. (Mr. X was my all time favorite – so “rad” – am I dating myself with that term?!?)

February 11, 2010

Hi Jim,
BIG Thanks for the 30 day videos! Like Ian said, this was a terrific format to learn for all of us. And of course, another Take Action hit over the head. I am finally getting off my butt to make the vids I’ve been, shall we say, planning.
Thanks and looking forward to the future.

Great idea, Jim.

February 11, 2010

You are the funniest man I’ve ever met, Jim…you missed your calling although we are all happy about that because without you I know I’d be lost! I love the idea of the Q&A via video although I’m going to have to get the courage up to do one because I’d love to be on a video with you.

Thank you for doing this series for us (as well as all you do) and for taking the time to answer every post. I know how very busy you are and that it did take time so I’m sorry I took up your valuable time but wanted to let you know how great these videos were!!!!

Bless you for all you do and thanks to Stella too.

Terrie

February 11, 2010

Hi Jim,

Yes! I think that a video Q&A is very exciting! I love your style you always make me laugh. Thank you for your sincerity in all that you do for us. I will plan a 30 day video challenge for my self even though it seems a bit daunting.

Yes, let’s cut the crap!

Ceci

February 11, 2010

I’m not one who posts a lot, but you 30 video challenge has created a monster. You have inspired me to get creative (and yes I confess that I have ripped off a few of your ideas) to get into the video thing. Butt… since you didn’t expose all the techniques during the 30 day challenge, I’ve had to learn a lot of stuff on my own, and I’ve impressed myself!

I think your Wednesday video is a great idea, and I look forward to it.

Thanks for doing the 30 day challenge!

George

February 11, 2010

Jim,

Thank you for the 30 day challenge – I like the idea of mastering skill development.

Yes, the weekly sounds great – Video in Video out…

Thanks

Your friend

Moose Man

PS – Jim, Seriously, I was actually, physically transported thousands & thousand of miles on numerous high adventures by a piece of Card Board and an “El Marko”.

Talk about Stopping Power – I could stop an 18 Wheeler, with the hammer down … there is nothing new under the sun.

PS 2 – WARNING – Please do not try this at home, the forces of the universe no longer make this a safe way to transport human bodies, (besides who still has an “El Marko”)

February 11, 2010

Hey Jim, You just crack me up! I’m just getting started and scared to death of making videos. I’ve done a couple (never posted) and hated it! LOL! But you Da’ man and yes I think Video questions would be great and yes it would probably even force me to do one! So to all the haters, yeah, “Cut The Crap”! LOL!

February 11, 2010

JIm,

Cool idea and to make it simple check out how Andrew Lock does it on his show http://HelpMyBusiness.com

He has an Eyejot video asking for his viewers questions … submitted back to him via Eyejot.

Hope that helps.

michael

February 11, 2010

Way to go, Jim! The video exchange is a great idea. It gives people a focus and a reason for getting in front of a camera. And thanks for the Mr. X feature – you said a lot of things that needed saying. As it says in the classic Sam Cooke song, “A change is gonna come,” and you’re one of the few who’ll still be around after market forces cut the crap out of Internet marketing!
Cheers, me old china.
John

February 11, 2010

You may have unleashed a monster. The 30 day video challenge was a great idea. I see several people thinking about the same idea. Watch out for the avalanche!!!!

I’m looking forward to the Q&A videos. Maybe you could put Stella on camera for some of the answers. After all, we normally only get to see you.

More Mike and Jim shows please……….

Hi, Jim,
I think the video Q&A is a wonderful idea. I vote YES!
I’ve been really slow to get things off the ground, but I’m determined to make 2010 my year to succeed. I’ve just gotten a video camera from Mike so your video Q&A will be especially helpful.

I think the Q&A can help save tons of time when a person really needs help. For example, I spent days and days and days trying to find out why my Aweber webforms displayed with a scroll bar in Explorer but not Mozilla. (It was a shock to find out that Aweber is recommending that people NOT use Aweber webforms in WordPress blogs — because their solution was only half of the fix of the problem.) I finally discovered — through Divine revelation actually — the second thing you have to do to make the webform display properly. (I guess I ought to tell the folks at Aweber so they can help other people in the same boat that I was in and quit telling people they may have problems using squeeze pages in blogs.) But it was ridiculous for it to take so long.

I have run into several other “glitches” in my blog and website. I think one reason people give up is the enormous amount of time it takes to bird-dog each individual issue. I guess this is MY “Friday night smackdown” frustration. Sometimes it takes tons of time to sit down and write down every detail of a problem, only to get a one sentence answer that doesn’t solve the problem. When I continue to press the point, it is sometimes interpreted negatively. It’s just that I know there has to be an answer. I’m not a technie, just a 64 year old grannie, giving this my best shot.

So … while your Q&A may focus on video issues (and rightly so), I hope there’ll be some time for Q&A on other problems of blogs and websites. :)

You’re the best and I appreciate all you do.

Blessings,
Anne

Jim

The video Q&A is a great idea, I guess I need to get a hold of Mike so I can get my question up. Mike does have an offer for a flip Video recorder.
I enjoyed Mr. X the most, it does make you stop and wonder how much we are being ganged up on.

Cut The Crap and lets do it!
Jim

February 11, 2010

Yes Jim, it is a DAMN cool idea!

February 11, 2010

Jim
Your video exchange will turn up some outstanding material and ideas. Might also provide some great entertainment.

I’m looking forward to the show. And, great job on the 30 Day Video Challange…we all learned some good stuff!
Will

February 11, 2010

Great idea! Now, where did I put my HD mino?

Thanks for the great videos, terrific content and topics,
and for all the laughs. You are the best.

February 11, 2010

You asked if a video question is COOL, and “YES” it is cool, Jim. I have the video camera. Now I just need a burning question. Hmmmm.

February 11, 2010

February 11, 2010

Yes, video Q&A will be great.

I’m more curious about the emails you received re: Mr X. Are you going to be able to disclose any of that?

February 11, 2010
Doris Spencer

Hi! Jim

I’m loving your videos, the sharp and sassy music and you’re charming personality!

Your presentations are easy to follow but I find the need to watch them more than once until I get it…

I think it would be fun to see new people on video. We’d probably all start feeling like family besides, better knitting together a community. I have not the foggiest on video know-how!

I’m new, this week, to TNR. However, from you, I did get your 7 Day ebook Sept 2008. Haven’t had a chance to use it, but I want to. I have been getting your emails ever since even though I was not able to get to them. I’m in the Jungle country in Mexico and have not had access to the internet until last week. It’s not dependable but it seems good to have it at least some of the time. And I do need a website that will make money.

Now I see that it needs to be a membership site? Oh! my!

I’m trying to learn how to follow the instructions in building a website. It’s taking forever… It is so hard because I do not even know computer basics. Other than point and click, copy and paste. I’m lacking vocabulary definitions, notebook, etc. Maybe you have that training somewhere in your vault? It’s not like I can run across jungle-town and take a college class so I’m struggling.

I’m watching one video after another just to get an over-all grasp on the concepts of how this all works. Thanks for all you do. Doris Spencer

February 11, 2010

Hi Jim,

Yes! I think that would be cool. I do want to comment that I didn’t receive 30 videos or was it for a period of 30 days. Maybe some of them went to my junk mail. I only receive I would say less than 10.

Thanks though for the ones I received they were great.

Leah

February 11, 2010

Jim- love your authentic, quirky self and valuable insights! (And I’m jealous of your purple pimp hat!)
While late to the video game and your series, I love the whole concept and plan to liberate my free spirit, hidden in a long-time teacher/trainer’s body, for video escapades…with yours and Mike Stewart’s able help and inspiration.
So, YES from me for the Wednesday video Q & A. Then I will finally figure all the equipment out and get going on it.

February 11, 2010

Video Q & A is a great idea, Jim! And yes, it will force us camera-shy types to just “cut the crap” and get over it! ;-)

Fantastic 30-day video challenge, and really looking forward to all the lessons learned from it. You’re the BEST!

I want to be one of the first to submit a video question!

Where, When, How???

What a great way for you to social-interact with your list and get to know what we want, so that you can provide the content (or would that be: we, the list, provide you with content?)

February 11, 2010

Enjoyed your 30 days of videos – Great content and presentation. Love your cardboard sign.

February 11, 2010

Hey Jim!

I think that is a cool idea.

I have been creating videos this past year.

Now I want to start creating fun videos that get attention!

Hey Jim,
I like the idea of video Q&A. You always do a great job of getting to the point. Looking forward to the Feb.25th webinar. Thanks for all that you do for us.

Thanks Jim for the 30 Day Video Adventure! I enjoyed the education and the entertainment you provided. I am hip on the “I’ll have my Video Peeps call your Video Peeps weekly Q&A”. Keep us updated on how to get the questions on Video to you…

Here is my first question. Can someone really claim Intellectual Property Rights to a piece of cardboard with felt pin writing?

Blessings!

Fitz

February 11, 2010

Cool stuff and great work Jim and daughter.

Love it and please do not let the naysayers and complainers get you down!

Great idea on the video requests – also means exposure for the submitters.

Keep it going!

Great Vid!!! liked it… Very good pointers too and very captivating. KUDOS!!!

February 12, 2010

Jim, I really love what you are doing. Yes, I want to ask questions about video and I want answers. I will be here. Perfect timing for me. It’s high time for me to start making videos.

Thank you for your hard work and great content!

February 12, 2010

Hi Jim,

Just wanted to say thanks for the highly useful and FUN video series.

Would love to hear what reaction you got from the “Guru’s” to the “Friday Night Smackdown”!

This industry really does need to “cut the crap” and start facing reality.

Really appreciate what your doing here.

Steve

I seem to have missed the 30 day challenge, having been away! But I emjoyed this video Jim and think your idea is very good. Connecting with people is a lost art now that we tend to email and twitter etc. Video helps because you ‘see’ the person and actually communicating with individuals provides a link from you to them.
So I vote yes….and my initial question is what is the best way to get started on this 30 day habit?
Forgive me if this seems like a delayed response to what you have been doing and perhaps you have already answered that query, but we all have different timetables.
BTW…the cardboard works well and congratulations to Stella.

February 12, 2010

Great Series Jim (and Team-Stella)…
Appreciate how you continually SHOW and
tell us what to do (and how to do it).

The video question & answer idea is great.
I will have to pull my little camera out,
dust it off, take a deep breath (and maybe
a shot of something alcoholic) to get up the
courage to submit a video question….but
I will do it.

Thanks for all you do Jim.

Jim,

What a great 30 days! I think we?re all going to have Jim, Smacker and Quaker withdrawals?

I?ve been a TNR member since, at least, 2007 and put to use a lot of what I?ve learned (at least in my day job-still working on building the internet business).

One of the main reasons I joined TNR, and continue as a member, is your outlook on business and your attitude on how to treat clients ?rings true? with me. Plus, you go way beyond telling us ?here?s what you need to do? by telling and showing us ?here?s how you do it?.

You have my vote for the video questions.

Kudos to your daughter for doing a great job with the videos.

You are a rare and refreshing, teacher and mentor. Don?t ever change!

Gary in Dallas

PS What doing a 2010 predictions video?

February 12, 2010

Great vid, and more importantly a great 30 day challenge, just goes to show what you can achieve when you push yourself even in a short timeframe.
keep up the good work

Jim,
Great work! Everything you do is from your heart and I love that. The Q&A video sessions sound great Jim. You are a gem, keep the —– honest Jim.
Thanks a million
Patricia

February 13, 2010

Jim, I just wanted to mention that I enjoyed your 30-day challenge videos, and I’m going back and watching many of them again. Also, I watched the Video Boss vidoes that Andy Jenkins put out to ramp up for his gigantic product launch. In my opinion, Andy is doing a great job with all his fancy whiz-bang special effects, but I think your videos are better because they’re more personal, feel more honest, and look more like something I might be able to do with a little practice (and without several thousand dollars worth of coaching and months of practice).

Now, how can I do a challenge with my own readers? hmm…

February 13, 2010

I think the video Q & A would be a great idea. I’ve spent the last few months getting past a lot of the video tech stuff but what I need to do most is acquire that comfortable feel in front of the camera so that my videos come off as natural as yours do.

R.

February 16, 2010

Hi Jim,

great idea about the video question, keep it coming!

Kind regards & good health,

Darren C.

February 16, 2010

Yes, video question will be cool, because I’ve wanted to do same thing to my customers but couldn’t figure out best way to get their videos to me unless it was through You Tube which isn’t ideal. So, will be great learning experience!
Suzanne

February 16, 2010

Video questions?? Yes please! What an awesome idea! I’m in. I already have my first question!

So when’s the next Friday Night Smack Down??

Seriously, I am looking forward to submitting a video question!

ps Stella – you are amazing – great job. I for one would love to see your smiling face in the credits too!
