Thank you Jim, you are the master of building relationships…
Loved the approach and I fall in the class of agreeing and laughing as I listened. My wife was across the room and she would laugh quietly as you would express your viewpoint with different voices and mimic whiners, egos and the lot..
Enjoyed mucho guy!

Hi Jim!
Great stuff, as always!
I would have to say that I totally agree with *ALL* of your points, regarding the predictions and trends for 2009.
Also, I definitely agree with your selection of Twitter as 2008′s Most Hyped Product! Sure, one can use Twitter to drive “traffic” to their site or affiliate link, but it is not (a) TARGETED traffic and (b) has a very low conversion rate of visitors to buyers. As you said, it’s basically a huge waste of time – time that could be spent far more productively in other areas for successfully marketing your online business.
Glad to hear that your son-in-law is getting better. I have a very clear idea of what you’ve been going through this past year, as I have had my own life affected by the $800K of medical costs for my wife.
Looking forward to 2009 and rebuilding our life, both physically and financially.
Have a great holiday season, and enjoy your family and friends.
Great to know that you’ll be coming back more in 2009, because I *definitely* need your continued guidance for the coming year.
All my best, as always!

Jim,
The video isn’t working.
Great video. Quite refreshing to hear someone with an opinion that is straight forward and to the point. Not for the timid or naysayers. You probably chase them away quickly anyway. It’s the hypester’s that probably give you the most fun. I look forward to learning more about you and from you.
Hi Lani,
Do you have the latest flash plugin installed?
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Are you on a high-speed connection?
Can you try a refresh in your browser?
We’ve had thousands of people show up in just a few hours, so server response might be a little slow.
Thanks
Jim
That was the best video I’ve seen in a long time!!!
Brilliant!
Thanks Jim – you’re a legend.
Cheers
Dave
You Bet!
Last membership site I would ever think of giving up!!
Once again Jim, lottsa downhome down-to-earth and on-the-button observations especially on all those b****y tedious product launch assaults.
Seen one, seen,em all…
I am one of your happy faces with, now, lots of filters.
And I really do wonder at some of the lack of creativity I see in the sales pitches…
Best,
George
Thanks Jim! It’s a great prediction video you put together. Very insightful. I am sorry about your brother-in-law. Good he is recovering.
I could not agree more on things like continuity/membership sites, online video and blogging. I also like what you said about building relationships is even more important in 2009.
I loled on the Twitter thing
Look forward to connecting with you more in 2009!
Jim, thank you! You’re always on top of the game and I want to just say how grateful I am for the time and money I have saved both learning from you and putting it into practice. Your information and tools are phenominal! Here’s to an amazing 2009!
Joshua
You can count on Jim to tell you what is on his mind and not pull any punches. I predicted last year that the big launch thing gotten out of control. I have started unsubscribing to well known internet marketers because I do not want to get slammed every time there is a big launch. Unlike Jim too many of them have stopped providing real content, just info everytime there is a another big launch.
I have been a subscriber to Jim’s NetReporter since it opened, and it has been my primary source of internet marketing techniques and mechanics since day one. It is without a doubt the last subscription that I would dis-continue.
John
PS. I too have yet to figure out the time/value of twitter. Though I did post on twitter that everyone had to hear Jim’s 2009 predictions in spite of his twitter comments.
Jim, maybe your buddy Chris Z can explain it to us.
I LOVE LOVED the use of video with the screen capture. Very engaging! I now want to know how you did that because I can see how powerful that is in relationship building.
And thank goodness there’s someone out there who doesn’t pull any punches! Here’s to 2010 when maybe the endless super mega launches slow down. GAD am I sick of those!!
Karen – a happy herd member!
Thanks guys
LMAO on the Twitter section! You are spot on with every topic covered.
You have validated my method of “marketing against the grain” while building the “herd!”
“Build your business slowly and methodically and you will prosper beyond your dreams.” Don’t buy the immediate gratification products.
One question, did you make this video with Camtaisa 6?
to your prosperity,
Bruce Inouye
(longtime follower)
Hi Bruce,
Yes, I used Camtasia 6.0 to make the video and I’m hosting it on Amazon S3 to handle the bandwidth load.
Hope that helps
Jim
Thanks Jim, the videos are great and right on target. People are getting smarter about what they spend their money on. You’re also right about membership/continuity sites, my husband and I are just starting one. Not that we know what we’re doing yet but I want to give great value and service to our customers. I’m so glad your son-in-law is doing better, family comes first. Jim you always deliver what you say and then some, been following you for a few years so I know this for a fact. Take care and have a Great holiday season, Jan
re: Jan – thanks, you’ll do great!
re: John Deck
I talked to Chris Z about that part of the video… he was laughing at it, but he said he’s sees “some” value in it, but agreed that MOST people use it to waste a LOT of time… so there ya go.
Re: Karen
Launches do have their place, but I think a lot of people share your sentiment
Re: George (from Mallorca) – you’re the man!
Jim
You deliver so much that I can’t imagine not staying with The Net Reporter.
I’m looking forward to putting everything together for 2009!
Hey Jim..Just watched the twitter bit….so with respect I beg to differ with part of what you say…hyped it is yes and more so as time goes by…probably more noise about it in the US…however having been a street market trader for many years talking with thousand of people every Friday Saturday and Sunday, hearing lots of stuff…I learned to whom I had to add more pinches of salt and who less.
Same with twitter.
Just like my cell phone is off a lot…the same with twitter…but I have to say that I have picked up some great tips at times on twitter by seeing where the ones who I don’t need to add salt to, are pointing me.
It is quite clear that to have twitter on day and night, and work at the same time is Super Distracting, however to dive in when one wants to, make an announcement or two, see what’s going on for a while, and leave it till the next time, is fine for me.
Just like on the launch assaults one gets to recognize who is who.
Perhaps here in Europe we have more years of text message experience than you US dwellers and can use the concept better.
Perhaps.
But I do know this. I do like being able to send a quick private message to someone in twitter when I wish to do that, and also using the @ function to say something in public to a particular person is great.
I Hated text messages for years until I discovered that sometimes it is way better than talking to some people…
And now to make you laugh.
I added qwitter. People appear as followers and then sometimes disappear within 24 hours…
Well, I had a load of people unsubscribe when I publicly told a Friend that I would be in town and would be going to the movies… Bond, James Bond…seems that it was too twitterly incorrect…
Seriously though, I can see that between 5 and 10 % of the people who follow me do take a look at what I mention to them.
I am gonna stay with but to use a US expression “I hear you!”
Best again,
George
Re: George
I hear you back
… you make some great points… thanks very much for adding to the discussion
Jim
Hi Cathy… thanks
Awesome – best free or paid content I’ve had all year, makes up for all the crap content I’ve been fed in 2008.
I’ll be keeping an eye on what you’re launching in 2009 Jim.
You just made it through the filter
Steve
hey Jim:
Thanks so much for your efforts on that video…..its really great to have someone like yourself who knows what the score is AND cares enough to tell it like it is….I bought your mini site creator recently and I couldnt ask for much more in a product for someone like myself trying to get started…..it is the real deal…..
I have picked up a few more programs, at some serious expense, and have not done much with them I must admit, though I figure if I get anything out of them they will pay for themselves….i had to chuckle at your theory on where newbies end up after getting bombarded….could really relate to that….with all our stuff, all good….with the other, maybe somewhere between the first and second shelf..!
I have the money to invest, so Im good with all of it so far, just have to do it all justice myself prior to complaining about any of it….
I look forward to letting you know of my initial successes in the niche markets, am feeling real good about the prospects…..and mostly it is thanks to you…..you proved
that again today….keep up the stellar work, and I also look forward to checking out your new products, and probably wont hesitate picking them up if they even remotely relate to what I am trying to do…..
Best Regards
Dean Pesci
Hi Steve…
Thanks! I appreciate your trust
Hi Dean
You’ll do great!!
Jim
Jim
Great content as usual Jim.
Thanks,
Andy
Interesting insights, and overall I think you will be proven right.
Certainly I have to agree Twitter is a total waste, have used it and it has done absolutely nothing for quality traffic generation.
Yes web 2 is important, very important but there is so much variability within it that determining what works and what is a waste of time can be a burden. We are already seeing some sites rising above the rest of the crap and hopefully this will continue, so that there will be a variety of sites that will be really effective and we can concentrate on them with some good blanket submission tools.
Thanks for the insights, looking forward to seeing what you are coming up with for 2009
Have a great Christmas
Hugh
PS: A hot tub will not cook a turkey but it will warm an eagles flight muscles!
Jim,
For the 34 pounds. Add the product called Fit from Agel to your mix. I added six holes to my belt very easily from July to October!
Jim,
====> I salute you Sir! I admire you’re candour.
You cut through the noise “the sea of junk”
and give much clarity to anyone who is struggling
to make an income online or is a newbie.
I have certainly benefitted from your prediction
presentation and i’m sure others have to.
Superb advice and direction for anyone
getting started online or who is online.
Keep up the great work!
Best regards.
P.S.
Thanks for pointing out the ‘Twits’ in Twitter
i have seen some of that stuff flying about and
was wondering what all the fuss was about??
Jim,
Your timing for this information is priceless!
Thanks for simplifying.
I hopethings are well with your son in law!
Take care and thanks for the info
Mike Grafstein
You’re right…you could have easily charged for this.
I was just recently introduced to you through one of your minisite teleseminars and have followed you since. Your honesty is refreshing!!
Twitter?? Still trying to decide. I’m definitely not spending my days and hours there following every single post and responding to every single comment like I see some people doing…but I do use it to pick up my blog posts, ezine articles, Squidoo pages, etc. which seems to be creating more subscribers and interest for my other sites.
Looking forward to seeing more of you in 2009.
Happy Holidays,
Jane
Jim, what a breath of fresh air. I want to know if it is okay to promote this video to my newbies who are all becoming so overwhelmed by all the hype and ‘product launches’ on the internet.
I am running workshops in the new year and believe a lot of your content in this video will give them a clear direction on how to find a niche and promote it successfully with your tips and recommended trends.
I really resonated with your comments on articles. In fact I heard about a lady who just reached her 250 mark on ezine articles and is truly reaping the rewards for her 500-700 word articles on different topics. Loved the public domain for magazine article suggestion, thanks for that tip.
Personally I am up to number 10 with my articles and trying to do 2 a day and I proudly write them all myself. As for product launches – well I have just written an article about what I call ‘product launch spamming’ the ten tips to stop the guru onslaught.
Finally, I also agree with your predictions with workshops instead of ‘sell fests’. I have already booked my first one for the New Year teaching women how to create their own lifestyle choices by starting an online niche web business step by step.
Another trend I predict is that people no longer will tolerate incomplete information. Too many internet marketers telling people ‘what to do’, but not actually showing them ‘how to do it’. My newbies are really excited that I am going to be guiding them step by step how to actually get an idea, research it, test the market and if the numbers add up, build a niche buisiness whether it be the continuity model, physical product, service or all of the above.
To me 2009 is about building my relationships, providing my herd with the solutions to their pains, helping achieve the right mindset and lifestyle choices and enjoying life.
Jim I am glad your son in-law is on the mend and that 2009 is going to be an exciting year for you and your family.
Thanks again Jim for providing a very humorous and accurate assessment of this industry and I look forward to following your successful endeavours in the New Year.
Merry Christmas
Cheers

Jim, you are the man, I like your prediction and you seem to hit the nail on the head all ready. I get offers it seem almost everyday and I can not opt out fast enough. Some make it real hard to opt out and thats were filters help out.
It does seem what I hear from you, down the road I hear it repeated many times.
Keep up the good work and keep the information news a coming.
Thanks
The video was vintage Jim. No beating around the bush. I agree with most of your predictions and appreciate the work and effort that you put into this for your herd; who ,if they are like me, already know, like and trust you. Twitter is a current piece of the landscape in social marketing that will continue, if they discover what their revenue model is. Some people swear by it for lead generation, but like everything else it is just one arrow in your quiver. Article marketing and no crap copy just makes sense. And to all the hype b.s. guys out there I appreciate your re-iteration on marketing warfare. Hard work and consistent good content messages will always trump the B.S.
Edwards is my shepherd, and I shall not want.
Rob
Jim,
You really provided some solid content in this post. Your candor and “no-holds-barred” approach is always refreshing, and informative.
Overall, I think that you are right on target with your predictions. However, I think that a lot of people, myself included, really have a clearer understanding that making an additional $100,000 or even $1,000,000 is doable, when it’s broken down into nice monthly chunks, via continuity products.
Thanks again for sharing with us.
“Keep on, Keeping on…”

Great stuff Jim.
I agree AND dis-agree with your comments on Twitter. For me, Twitter is a social outlet (nice when you are a solo entrepreneur) and a networking tool.
I’ve made some great connections and friendships on Twitter and most of my best JVs come from my Twitter pals.
As a traffic tool, it’s moderate, but I do get traffic, opt-ins, and sales from Twitter.
I find it less of a time suck than posting in forums, and it’s also a great research tool to keep your finger on the pulse of your niche.
Over hyped? Definitely it is by the people to tout it as an advertising tool.
Jim, ‘great post, love your style, your candor, your wit. Value, Value, Value in all things we do, get, receive, sell, give away etc… – this is the credo for 2009 and beyond.
I have to agree about twitter. A complete waste of time!
Good call on the membership/continuity sites. I belong to a couple that charge only $7 a month for access to a private part of an otherwise public forum. All the “really good stuff” is inside the “private member area”. Another way to use ‘membership’.
Thanks for the video!
Jim,
I enjoyed your video about the opinions you had on the predictions and trends for 2009.
I have had these similar thoughts, but I only voiced them to myself, I could have made these predictions; but of course you were the forerunner in taking action on your thoughts. Since, I may have only had the thoughts and not voiced them, that puts me behind the leader(s) that will grab/get/create their income. (Only behind, not out of the running for the income.)
Being a follower does give me incites, but that also makes my mind numb from creating my own ideas, and taking my own actions. That is why the leaders have to lead and not always follow.
As for your biggest hyped Award for 2008. You are right about all the gibber/jabber going on. People are not using that site for it’s best potential. Some of the leaders are treated as being famous. Even celebrities don’t want to have everyone knowing their every move, until they want to create an income from it, then they come out of the woodwork or into the public eye. What are you selling with your posting on this site mentioned?
How many product creations did you give us in this video? I can think of one for each topic you discussed.
Here is one. With the Kindle book reader, writing articles for that format and sell them through Amazon or through my blog. I need to do my research on what format that is. How about products geared toward Mac users? How about for all the new cell phone users? What kind of membership site could I create?
Monthly income times how many people gives you $$$’s. Think in numbers for any product, pricing, membership site, article, list, launch, live event, video, or blog you have or will create.
Ok, I came up with more that one idea. I don’t want to give them all away, but my mind is turning. Now I need to be the leader and take actions on my ideas, before someone else does.

Fantastic video! I guess I’m one of those ones that loved everything you said.
Times of change… bring times of opportunity. Here’s to a great year!!

Booya! Jim, you are going to take the place of my other favorite Jim (Cramer of Mad Money) pretty soon. I agree with you on about 90% of what you shared with us regarding your prediction of 2009. I think that we will be flushing out a lot of the charlatans on the Web next year.
Regarding the high dollar vs. low dollar scenario, I think that people should choose their market and work their market. If you choose a low dollar market, be prepared to work harder to sell them a high dollar item.
If you choose a high dollar market, be prepared to build the rapport necessary to sell the high dollar item.
Thanks again for a great lesson on Internet marketing. I always appreciate your observations.

Hi Jim,
I loved what you have to say. I have listened to you for
quite a long time. I loved your direct comments. Your
prediction for continuty and membership sites is interesting
and makes good sense.I look forward to using your ideas in what I choose for a internet business. I love your mini sites.
I look forward to hearing you later this month and next year.
GOOD GOING
Thank you,
Everett
Hey Jim,
I’m loving your video, some excellent content as usual. And yes, you could have sold it for $49.
I agree with most of it, however, must comment on Twitter.
I personally have had some excellent success with Twitter.
I do agree, the majority of the people are wasting time, their own and that of others, but maybe they enjoy doing that and even feel a sense of security building new online friends. I dunno. It sure is a culture of its own. I got caught in the “thrill” of it all for a few days as well.
But, soon changed my “game plan.”
I have a different approach than most tweeters, that is working for me. It may not work for the majority of tweeters, but for it has accomplished much in just 7 weeks.
First, by networking thru my new twitter friends, it has helped me build relationships with some powerful Internet experts, such as Willie Crawford, Joel Comm, Carrie Wilkerson, Jonathan Budd, Ken McArthur and others.
But more than that, I have been able to interview them for my website, which has given me MUCH mileage. Today, I am editing an interview I did with Joel Comm yesterday. I doubt I would have been able to get this nearly as easily without the contacts I have made thru Twitter.
I have also been able to get a lot of audio voice-over work from my marketing in Twitter and thru my new friends there. I could talk about a couple other reasons that Twitter is a goldmine for me, but I think I have said enough for now.
As you said, Twitter is a waste of time for many, maybe even most, but for me, it’s GOLD, and getting better every day!!
So, from a personal perspective, I have to say that I LOVE Twitter!! I believe over time, you “may” (or not) change your mind.
Might be worth keeping an open mind about, however.
Again, thanks for your excellent video on the hot trends to watch for 2009, Jim.
Nick Hetcher
Hi Jim:
Yeah, it seems like it’s been a while since I heard from you so I was glad to see the email with your ‘Predictions..’ in it.
I agree totally, 100%, with your comments about Twitter.
Nice to hear that your son-in-law is better.
Best regards,
Art
Hello Jim
I just got acquainted with your style through this video presentation. My husband and I are in the mids of putting together our own individual membership sites and your info made me excited and hopeful. I have been working ON my business for a year, but have not been very good at WORKING my business. We both have couple of niches that are in demand and we will love to continue to glean from you to get it to as many people we can reach. Thank you for “freely” sharing your info.
N
Jim,
Thanks as always for cutting through all the crap! I was thinking along the same lines. It was great to get confirmation to my thoughts.
I did take a look at Twitter and played around with it for a few nights. It quickly became a waste of my time, IMHO. I think about the same of FriendFeed (unless somebody can prove me wrong). Funny how both were brought to light by the same individual (maybe he understands something that we don’t?)….Nah!!!
I enjoy working with the video stuff! So, it warms my heart to hear you say (and confirm my thoughts) that it is the trend going forward.
Man!… have I had the tendency to go after the “gimmicky” stuff!! I have finally gotten it through my head that “value” is “the only thing that counts” in the long run. Thanks for jamming it in there one more time!
I am one of those affected by the “now declared recession.” I have to say that I have no worries about the future thanks to all the outstanding information and lessons you have provided in the NetReporter.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to YOU and your family!!!
Lowell
Love your work, Jim, and appreciate your frankness in particular.
It’s encouraging to know that someone in the world of IM will still tell it like it is.
Dave
P.S. I hope it wasn’t my bad influence on you while you were in Oz though that degenerated your vocab.
Hey Jim
Good to be in touch with you again, from when I met you in sydney many moons ago at Mal Emery’s show you certainly know how to over deliver. I may be slow on the uptake and have been fed a fair load of krap from around the globe, so is refreshing to see your video with the screen capture, looking forward to being amongst your herd in 2009 and beyond
Cheers, Evan in Perth, Australia
Jim, Your video was excellent and great info for 2009. I am a newbie and getting ready to start a affiliate program
to learn and gain success on the internet. May I have your thoughts on this type of business and other business to consider also, please advise.
Thank You, Gene
Thanks, Jim, as always you have proven to be THE person to follow. Your content and predictions hit the nail on the head. You reinforced what I have been working on and I thank you for your incredible sense of timing.
But I want to especially thank you for the positive ending you projected regarding this economic madness that we see every time we turn on the tube. You are the first person to have a bright outlook into our future. You not only gave me the greatest feeling of survival and hope, but you reinforced the importance of FOCUSing on and achieving our goals and dreams in 2009.
Thanks again, Jim.
Kimberly
Jim, Your video is really awesome. It has plenty of interesting and useful info. It was also a pleasure to listen to you on the video as you had it really together. One thing I would like to say is that you should change the price on your mini site program to $97. Not only will I buy it but you will get not ten times the sales but a hundred time the sales. Thanks again for the video. Robert
I almost hate to waste your time with a comment, but your trends video absolutely rocks!! All points made are right on target and I am reminded of how much value you are providing (clearly you walking your talk). I just can’t walk away from a good sales pitch, but I have bought more useless, poorly produced, underdelivered, poorly executed internet marketing crap in the last year than I can possibly describe. Seems like a lot of marketers are selling hard but have no clue as to how to deliver. For me, you have done just what you want to do. As far as I’m concerned, The Net Reporter, is the highest quality memberships site for internet marketing available anywhere. It is the LAST membership I would ever cancel (and I have a few memberships). Thanks for being down to Earth and consistently delivering high quality, take it to the bank content!!!!

Hi Jim,
Dude You hit the nail right on the head with your trends and predictions for 2009.
Great Job.
A good opening for your predictions and trends would be if you opened with the sound of a typewriter tapping in the background like Walter Winchell, stating This is Jim Edwards and this is the news.
Ricardo
Great Presentation Jim! Yeah, I’d say it should be rate R, but I appreciate the honest answers about the “hype”, the crap, and the other facts, no one in the Internet marketing guru circles have the balls to address head-on, as you did in your presentation!
Keep moving forward!
Jim, glad to get your info on twitter. I was just getting ready to take a look at it, perhaps another day.
Yes, I do beleive the new trend will be to offer quality info, especially when meeting a need.
Thanks for the tips keep up the good delivery. At 60 I need all the help I can get. I’m working on the retirement, slow and steady.
By the way I do know, like and trust you.
Thanks
Patty
Great stuff Jim! Always love your straight forward approach to things, minus the hype. I’m looking forward to what’s going to happen in 2009. We’re in a very unique situation right now with the economy such a major topic, the new Prez as you say, etc. I’m looking forward to exploring several niche opportunities (I have no interest in even TRYING to compete in the internet marketing arena). We’ll see if any of those prove to be money makers.
Hey, what was that mic you were using in the video? Excellent quality. I’d love to pick one up myself for tutorial style videos.
Have a great holiday season and best of luck in 2009!
Great presentation, Jim.
I’m a member of you mini site program. It ROCKS!
Thanks for setting and demonstrating the tone of “value added content” for all our endeavors.

P.S. If you check my website you will see the type of medicine I practice. I have a few suggestions that might be useful to your son in law. ( I’m not trying to sell you anything;)
If interested, email me.

Hey Jim,
Great information as always. While I agree there is a lot of useless cr*p posted on Twitter, I guess I am on the other side of the fence on this one. While there is a lot of noise, it is possible to build a targeted herd on Twitter and make it work. I think Ed Dale and Dan Raine are evidence of this with their use of Twitter during the Thirty Day Challenge.
Personally, I use it as another channel to syndicate my blog posts. I use Twitter like many other sites as additional touchpoints to direct traffic back to my blog. My blog posts are sent first to Twitter, and then onto Facebook for further syndication.
Once it is set up, I don’t have to spend any extra time updating my status or posting what I am eating for dinner tonight, my blog posts are syndicated automatically just as they are through RSS and AWeber.
There are also a few “tools” out there that allow you to monitor the conversations on twitter, while some can be worthless, tracking the use of individual keywords on Twitter like we do for other sites with Google Alerts can be beneficial in certain markets.
While the plugin on my blog syndicates both ways, my primary focus is sending content from my blog out to other sites.
Facebook is probably in second place for biggest hype for 2008, but it also has a place if used correctly. I think the key there is using facebook groups to build a community. That said, you are definitely better of building your own membership site rather than building a community on someone else’s platform.
I have already heard about several live events getting hammered with poor attendance. My focus for 2009 is expanding on your beer truck approach to marketing and expanding my network of sites to build for the future.
Cheers,
Kevin
Hey Jim,
Awesome video! Been a long time since I had a good laugh and learned some very valuable information at the same time! Not sure how I ended up getting this video sent to me to view, but I am signing up for your newsletter below as I really liked the way you “told it as it is”. I am getting really sick and tired of the BS that fills my inbox on a daily basis from all those so-called gurus or “snake charmers” claiming to have discovered the Holy Grail of Internet Marketing and promising me riches beyond my wildest dreams! I appreciate your down to earth approach and look forward to receiving your valuable information.
(I hope you drop those 30 pounds, Jim, but don’t drop your honest “tell it like it is” attitude!) YOU DA MAN!
Hello Jim, Wow! that is the best video i have watched all year in 2008, and it was free!. I am speechless Jim, and agree 100% with everything said, and thankyou very much. You should of at least or consider, having a little widget next to the video, so i, and everyone tuning in on this, could donate a buck or two, for your time and knowledge, and by you and your Wife, a Hot cup of choclate. Then you and your wife could kind’a sit back and watch a replay of this video again with your hot choclate in hand. Again Jim, kind of like a (good ol) friday night smackdown with your wife.
I think i was riding on a train one day when i just found you on the web. When i got off that train, i jumped on my so called, high and mighty horse, and got stuck in the mud puddle a few times along my way. So i called a couple of so called unknown Gurus, to come and pull me out of the mud for a small fee. They rushed to come and get me out of the mud, but first they wanted my visa card numbers, then they got me out of the mud and left me there everytime. I really got tired of paying all these so called gurus to come and pull me out of the mud again.
So the last time i got stuck on my high and mighty horse, I finally made up my mind and said, i wont pay anymore so called Gurus and get left in the mud ever again. So that is when i called the NETREPORTER.COM and have never been stuck in the mud since. I just sold my horse know, and bought a new vehicle, oh and i almost forgot to mention that i also have money left on my visa card, and i also have a larger bank account now ever since the net reporter got me out of the MUD!!, and all the, Thank’s goes to Jim Edwards and his Family, and the netreporter.com
Thank’s a Million Jim, For what you have taught me!!
Hello again Jim, I just forgot to mention your videos are getting better than the packer football games. You should have your own channel like ESPN or something!!
Gotta say you don’t pull any punches. I like it. I just wish you would smile more, because the stuff you are saying is pretty darned funny.
I am not going to disagree with much of it either.
It sure made me want to go out & start a membership site.
WHOOOEEE.
Thanks for the comprehensive video.
Rex
Hey Jim, Your presentation is very pragmatic and spot on, I believe. I totally agree with you that as people tend to panic, their rational thought processes becomes fragmented and their decisions become more erratic and impulsive.
Which is why they will follow people who remain level headed and who are problem solvers. Leaders who will take them through dark tunnels and bring them out to the light.
This opens up marketing opportunities for those who can see it. True entrepreneurs take hard times as a challenge and use them to grow their businesses. They help others who are less insightful. I do believe the marketers who remain solution oriented will definitely come out ahead.
As far as Twitter goes, I thought there was something wrong with me because I think it is totally unproductive
for real businesses. It’s the bandwagon mentality, just jump on without giving any thought as to why you’re doing it. If you are 12 or 13, have fun!! But, time could be better spent on more targeted marketing efforts.
My hopeful prediction for 2009 is to see and hear from MORE
WOMAN marketers! Come on–I know there are more bright, articulate woman who could be successful in internet marketing.
This is strictly my opinion, but I think women don’t want to be on camera, or in the ‘limelight’ because they know they will be judged on their looks with a harsher standard than men. And no I’m not ugly! I have no ax to grind. Also, men can get by with trash talk and seem funny. Not so much for woman. Women need to give themselves more credit for being decision makers. Still more men appear as leaders. This ought to stir up some dust! I just think that it’s something that needed to be said.
I believe slow and steady wins the race, always has, always will. Work is a 4 letter word, but one that some of us actually enjoy. It defines who you are and what value you can give to others.
Good luck to your family and a big “Thank you” to all the men and women who have served our country. Thank you for your candid presentation, Jim.:)
Great stuff Joe.
Most other marketers would be happy to charge a premium for what you’re giving away FREE here.
It’s really an eye-opener and I’d keep coming back and watch it again for a refresher.
Thanks Joe… and wishing you more success!
Osman
oppsss..
Mistake. Sorry Jim.. NOT Joe.
Always thought of you as Joe… need to get my brain right now.
Sorry again, Jim
Hey Jimbo
You hit the nail on the head so freaking hard you punched it through the other side…
I could write a 500 word article on how good you are… but for now… YOU ROCK !!
Cheers

Your raving fan is sunny Western Australia
I am one of those “happy filterers” but I knew I did not want to cancel my Jim Edwards emails.
I receive 100+ emails per day even after all my filtering and as soon as I saw ‘Jim Edwards 2009 Predictions Video’ email today I clicked on straight away.
Just to validate one of your predictions – Live Events and the lower priced registrations.
A FOUR DAY ‘World Internet Summit’ with ‘gurus’ to be held in Queensland, Australia – March 2009 currently selling at only $197! Can you believe that!
Thanks for the great content Jim and best wishes to your son-in-law.
Michael
Hi Jim
Your video was great as always. You have a way of saying
the things everyone is thinking, but can’t put into words
to express themselves. There is one thing that you should
have mentioned though. It is the trend toward forced
continuity. That is one thing I hate with a passion. The
membership/continuity sites are good and have a valid
purpose, I’m working on building my own at this time.
The forced continuity is bad and unnecessary. If you have
a good membership site, you will get all the members you
need, it just will take a little longer – maybe, but most
of them will stay longer and be more inclined to trust and
respect you.
Stay focused and keep generating the good content you are
so good at doing.
Ed
Hi Jim,
That was awesome. Its a shame there are not more like you who tell it as it is and shoot from the hip. Very refreshing. I am looking forward to 2009 and some of the pointers you have mentioned have indeed given me food for thought.
Thank you so much and I wish you and your family a very Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
Regards
Jon (one of the ‘happy’ people!!!)
Hi Pam (and everyone else),
Please feel free to share this video with anyone you think would benefit
Don’t feel like you have to create every article yourself, just make sure the articles you publish are good
Thanks
Jim
Father Dave… I must confess… that my vocab got a tad out of control in this video, but my passions were stirred and I went with it…
Dude, I have GOT to make it back to Australia to catch up with you and Ange and the kids… do you still own the Outback Camp? Are you guys doing okay?
Jim
Hi Preston,
You would never waste your time or mine by expressing an opinion (positive or negative)… what everyone here has to say is important and worthwhile… whether they agree with me or not
Jim
Ricardo,
Great idea

You make excellent points
Thank you

ha ha Twitter…..I am so glad to see that someone agrees with me on the pointlessness of Twitter!
Really good content thanks

Scott,
You’re quite the budding story-based sales copy writer
Thanks
Jim
Lori,
YOU need to be the change you want to see… so I’ll see YOU at the top of whatever mountain you decide to climb
Don’t wait for someone else… you be the woman who is at the top!
Jim
Osman,
No problem… I’ve been called a lot worse than “Joe”
Jim
I’m trying to acknowledge everyone, but I have to run for now… I do appreciate everyone’s comments (Patti, Ian, Ed, Joe) and we all have a VERY interesting ride ahead of us
Stay tuned!
Jim
Dear Jim:
I’ve been a fan & a customer since 1999-2000 when I purchased my copy of 33 Days to Online Profits by you & Yanik Silver. I’m embarassed to say (NOT) that there was so much information provided with that product, including the fantastic bonuses that I’ve never really had to buy anything else!
I’ve been a fan & follower ever since!!!
However, last year you can out with a product that teaches you how to make videos – is it still available? I’m ready now. I developed a “Killer Ap” for a program that I want to sell on dvd’s so I need to know the best way to do it.
I loved your combination of screen capture and live video – I think that’s what I want to do.
Anyway, if the product is still available let me know, (I’ll check back here from time to time to look for your response).
With regards to “Twitter”, I’ve been messing around with it a little, but I’m not particularly impressed. I can’t get comfortable with the idea of “Twits” attached to me in public where everyone can see them.
So far, I think Facebook has been the best site for Blog links, and advertising my products and web sites with the least amount of pains.
Thank you for the abundance of useable information in your video, and thank you for being you (consistently the same; not being blown about by winds of change).
Blessing to your son-in-law, I’m glad he’s home and doing okay. During that time I had 4 in the service myself. Thank God 3 are now out, and the last one is currently a training instructor @ Fort Benning with the promise of now having to return to Iraq (he’s done 2 tours already, and has recently gotten married).
God Bless you & your family,
Kim Rogers
Jim, I’ll have to admit I was skeptical you would have the strength to lose weight. I’m ecstatic to be wrong!! As far as the content I think your trends are timely. I personally have unsubscribed to the redundant B.S, much of what you described. I’m here so it should be obvious that I remain committed to you and your content (good stuff that I look forward to). I’m tired of being endlessly pitched at so called boot-camps. So much so that I have become somewhat cynical. The greatest take away that I will implement is the use of your hot tub as a think tank. I like that idea. What do you think of mortgage application being up? Isn’t that like the fox guarding the hen house (AGAIN),I digress…
Jim:
Great job, both in content and in presentation. I liked the live video inserts in Camtasia.
One question: the whiteboarding was cool; what did you use to make that happen?
Best to you for 2009,
sg
Jim -
I just watched your trends video and found it very useful. My husband and I are putting together a social entrepreneur type online business that is based on how we operate a local all-volunteer nonprofit focused on perishable food rescue (http://www.respectingourelders.org), and I made lots of notes of the different tools that we need to implement to make this work, and I can clearly see it coming together.
Also, I come from many years of traditional marketing, and I have to say that you are one of the few Internet Marketing experts that I have come across that gives sound, practical marketing advice, and speaks to me directly and succinctly, with good solid information.
One more thing: on the page that opened where I viewed this video, there was no link to get back to the blog at the bottom of the screen. Might be good to add since you focus so much on it at the end of the video.
Ruth
P.S. I first came across you the other day when I attended your webinar on mini-sites. Again – a lot of very useful info, but the way you made your pitch at the end kinda turned me off and I became a bit more skeptical. However, with this trends piece you have definitely regained my trust, and I will look seriously at taking you up on at least one of your offers in the near future.
The main thing I agree with you is that “1 size does not fit all”. aka it depends.
So why make an ill informed 1 size fits all assumption about twitter?
OK so spending all day on twitter will NOT earn you more money. Usually yes.
Doing a Reese and spamming twitter will NOT earn you more money. Usuually yes.
But to blank twitter totally. That seems a poor choice in a 1 size does not fit all world. My twitter report proves why.
Did watching your video earn me any money? NO not a single penny. But thanks for the entertainment.
PS You look way better in black!
PPS Guess I’m a “gone” because I had to unsubcribe from YOUR emails because I found them too selly. Go figure!
PPPS Your hot tub and video games make you more creative? My mental images are not PG
Peter.
LOVED IT! Thank you SO much Jim! I love to find people who can sniff out the horses*** and call it what it is, horses***!!!
I took notes! Esp. on the workshops and membership sites… I’m formulating ideas in my head already, and this was the affirmation I needed!
Love the video concept too… SO much more to work into my 2009 plans!!
I will be watching for more form you in future!
Patricia, Alberta, Canada
Jim,
At least you have an opinion, and I respect that.
I don’t know if all you say is true, but the bit about who is clearest wins or succeeds is priceless. That’s the truth that I’ve found in my own life and can only assume it is universal.
Also, filtering is mandatory if you want to get anything done. Otherwise, you’re just chasing sales pages all day.
You steer your life with the decisions you make. If you choose to engage the information overload, then that’s all you’ll get…more overload.
I also agree that it’s only going to get worse in the I.M. field. Why?
Because launch formula business models are cloned to saturation. It’s the same problem one encounters in the biz opportunity field, where everyone is selling the same biz opp. Eventually you shake hands with saturation.
I recon you know better than I about Twitter, and most other I.M. stuff.
It does seem pointless, but I’ve also read sales pages about the power of Twitter, but maybe that’s just sales puffery to sell the product.
You know, with me it’s really a lot more about humility (I know I don’t know it all) than gullibility. I’ll stick with what you’re telling me though.
Your advice hasn’t let me down yet Edwards, so that’s about as close to security as you can get when everybody is positioning themselves as your personal I.M expert.
Finally, I whole heartedly agree with you about getting out of the I.M. market place. Amen.
There’s a whole, huge world of affiliate marketing that hasn’t even been tapped yet…it’s ginormous, almost infinitely larger than one can even imagine.
And that’s online.
Then the offline world is clueless about this stuff. Absolutely clueless, and you’re right on the money about selling your I.M. skills to the offline, local, business community. Priceless Jim, just priceless.
I know because I’ve done it and it is a hell-of-a-lot easier to sell $800 dollars worth of consulting and outsourced web design and autoresponder series work, to a pet store owner not keeping a customer list, than it is to make $800 dollars in affiliate commissions…for real.
Gotta go Jim. As always, top shelf. Please keep it up.
One of the your loyal ones,
Jason Bunner
That was a very interesting and useful video Jim. Thank you very much for sharing it with us all.
I totally agree with you as far as Twitter is concerned! I first heard about it in August while doing “The 30-Day Challenge” and it didn’t seem to make a whole lot of sense then or now.
I’m glad to hear that your son in law is doing better too. I also have a son in law over there at the moment and I had a daughter who did two tours in Iraq. Thankfully, she is physically healthy, but she suffered PTSD. My son in law has another year to go until he gets back.
Take care and Glod bless!
Susan S.
Hey Jim love the video I actually took you off my list because I thought you were one of those who tried to sell me every thing under the sun but after this video you are definitely going back on will post this link to Twitter for the fun of it lol.
Hi JIM:
Great presentation, thanks.
I like your idea of video with screen shots. In fact the format for this presentation was really cool. What did you use to produce this video?
Thanks again for the quality, no “BS” presentation!
Jim,
I got linked to you from John Carlton and it seems both you and he have a “no-bullshit” philosophy that comes across as down to earth and believable.
I’m new to the internet business and have so much to learn from competent guys like you and John.
I listened to your recent JV with John and would have purchased but alas I am an Apple guy with little tolerance for crappy PC operating systems or anything that emulates a PC. All your stuff appears to be PC software. No offense intended.
I thank you for your thoughtful information and will stay tuned in.
And, I am so sorry to here about your son-in-law’s injuries. I am a veteran and was lucky to dodge bullets.
I agree with you that with a new president who can actually think for himself… it’s going to be a new day… and plenty of opportunity to help people in this economy solve problems.
All the best.
Jim,
I am a new fan of yours as of 10 minutes ago. After watching your videos, you were spot on! I too, have been unsubscribing from several gurus who just slam me daily. Enough is enough.
I will be watching for anything new from you with interest. Look for me on your list, a new follower.
Thanks for the straight talk.
Thomas
Jim,
Some great insight, I learned quite a bit.
I’ve got a question…I need an honest answer as to if your Minisite Creator is really for me. I am NOT a techie and do not want to become one. I am a speaker and coach in the beginning stages of planning my website and marketing approach. I have a webmaster who can build my site but I want as much control over the content as possible . I’m in a quandry as to what to do. As great as I’m sure your product is it still sounds like it takes quite a bit of time dedicated to the nuts and bolts. I appreciate your help.
Loved the video insert application.
What type/brand of camera did you use? The image was High quality & better definition than most seen on the web.
Jim your the greatest.
Hi Carol: using a Sony DV Handicam
David: MSC v2.0
It’s not an overnight solution… it’s a complete education on not only the marketing, but the mechanics as well… even if you have a webmaster, you need to know what’s going on and how things should get set up.
Hope that helps
Jim
Patricia / Jason / Susan / Bob and more… thanks
I appreciate your comments
Jim
Hi Jim:
OK, Sony DV Handycam (good for me; that’s what I’ve got).
BUT… what interface or programs did you use to make the great little blackboard and put your pic in the corner? This wasn’t the Camtasia 6.0 you talked about, surely?
Thanks for your reply,
Lindsey
Daron: Thanks
Lindsey,
The software to make the video was Camtasia 6.0… the whiteboard, how I use it, and more is my little secret for now (hey, I gotta have a few)
I did just teach a class in http://www.TheNetReporter.com that included how to do whiteboard style videos.
Jim
Yes, Jim, you’re right as usual (or at least 90% right, which is pretty darn good.)
Twitter is mostly crock. I agree, who cares, except your grandma, what you ate last night or when you went to bed. Still, it is one of the few places where I can get a direct link into major players in my niches and have direct conversations. People who would probably not bother to read emails from me, will read Twitter posts and respond to them quickly. It’s also just one more site to use to bookmark stuff I’ve written, and stuff from others I think is newsworthy. Maybe these are the “right” ways to use Twitter as with other social media.
I agree article marketing, blogs and other media requiring lots of content will ascend even more in 2009. While there is a lot of good content on the article distribution sites, there is also a lot of crap. I will use these sources to supplement my blogs, but I wouldn’t just rely on them. I’ll write my own, find a ghostwriter, or invite a guest blogger to do posts for me. I believe this will be the year of the ghostwriter because there will be so much need for good content and so many people who have neither the skill or time to create their own. (Of course, I am a freelance writer, so it is a dollar-filled prediction for me.)
BTW, your Blog Profits Videos were the first to successfully teach me how to create a WordPress blog. Before following your step-by-step I was very frustrated trying to get a blog up on my own site. Now I build them professionally. Thanks much!

Jim,
I appreciate your “candidness”…wow…is that a word? It has been very helpful to get a perspective from someone who has been estensively involved in the IM field and whose perceptions I respect very much. I have picked up some tips that I believe will help my business and I have had some ideas dashed (probably for the best) and others supported. I definitely feel more confident about my plans for 2009. I am really not worried about the financial “crisis.” I really do not see it as a “crisis” but an opportunity to rise above all the fear and uncertainty of many.
I think those of us who are thinking positively will benefit incredibly in many ways. Many thanks for sharing your ideas and expertise. It has helped me immensely.
Marilyn
Correction…extensively….bad from a Spelling Bee winner in elementary school, but then that was many years ago. Congrats on your weight loss! And so glad your son-in-law is recovering. My prayers are with you all.
Marilyn (again)
What a refreshing no nonsense overview. Very little left out, if anything. Glad I found you on IM Newsletter and will opt in. That’s hilarious what you said about Twitter, I concur. Although it’s an innovative platform and may reflect an iota of future communication techniques, right now it is over-rated.
Jim,
Thanks for an enjoyable and educational half-hour of internet marketing. I had to listen to it twice.
First, to get the message of your predictions and then to learn how best to deliver a message to your audience online.
The content was truly invaluable– the value of membership sites, importance of article marketing and list building, the uselessness of twitter for most people, the future of blogs, video…great stuff.
But more than that you showed us how to connect with your audience…NOT JUST TALKING ABOUT WHAT A BLOG SHOULD DO, BUT SHOWING US. This was a great example of:
How to do a blog video, including your email to get us here,
How to use your blog to promote your other products, (you talked about the mini-site wagon wheel and you talked about the TNR membership site, Mike, Stu, Camtasia)
How to use a video to build your relationship (not just having your picture with the familiar red shirt, you did the magic picture in camtasia to actually make us feel we were having a personal conversation, way more valuable than anything else you could do in a blog video,
You shared enough personal stuff (weight loss, your family) to make a personal connection, but not too much…it was professional with a personal touch, just the right way to do it.
You showed us how to break up a video into little sections to hold our interest, and then do the HYPE thing in the middle to cause your readers to REALLY pay attention, enough so they will go to your blog and comment (like I’m doing) in droves, which is great for blog SEO. Plus, it was done with really honest aggravation, passionate…an excellent lesson on how it’s done.
You used all the techniques that you teach us on the net reporter webinars, the powerpoint template, the video inset, even using amazon s3 to deliver the video.
This video was a lesson in practice what you preach, and you’re one heckuva preacher…
I feel blessed to be a part of your TNR congregation and to any of your blog readers who haven’t yet signed up for your TNR membership, GET OFF YOUR BUTT AND DO IT. In The Net Reporter, Jim will teach you how to do all the things you need to be successful on the web and then he’ll kick you in the butt to get out there and do it,
I wholeheartedly agree with those in the blog comments who say, I will always be a part of TNR membership. I believe there’s no better membership site on the web.
Thanks, Jim. Not only for the content you delivered, but for your CASE STUDY in delivering a message. You’re the best!
Patty from Chicago
Yeah, I agree with everything you said except with Twitter. I think Twitter is still in it’s infancy. Who knows!
Jim, The intro plays, but nothing else does. So that means that I have the current flash player, right?
Please fix because I really want to se what you have to say. Thanks,
David in New York
Yes, Yes, Yes!
Jim, you are ‘Good’ and I like your ‘Truths.’
I can see and hear the passion and belief in you, you speak from the heart!
‘We Are Singing From The Same Page In The Hymn-Book!’
I took notes from what you said and that’s going to help with my 3 Month (starting from 3 days ago) Plan, it’s just what I needed!
Wilson
P.S. Oh yes, I did write my eBook in exactly 7 Days too (all 84 pages)! I started writing on a Friday and I finished it the following Friday! I’ve now got testers working from the materials written within.
Thanks!
Thank you Jim for putting things into prospective. Time is certainly the main factor in building up a presence on the net, but it is something we all do not want to acknowledge, because we all want everything yesterday.
Another thing that struck home for me was the happy face with the built in filters, and your repeated “mantra” for success online : trust, quality and credibility. Not a day goes by without some amazing offer from some super “guru” that will make you rich overnight IF you buy the product/membership/ or whatever on offer, and as you say, the onslaught will intensify next year.
I admit to being overwhelmed at one stage, I didn’t know where to look there was so much info, but I am just going to buckle down and concentrate on one source (no prize for guessing which one).
I like your direct no frills approach, and the way you tell it like it is. I look forward to more in 2009.
Best regards,
Michele
P.S to David looking at MSCv2
I am no techie and I have MSCv2 – it has taken me time but I am a lot closer than I ever would be without it. All areas are covered in detail and the steps are clearly explained and I am sure you will find it useful for your business. Certainly I have not found anything else like it with someone else on the net.
Hi Jim
A great video full of very interesting opinions, which as you say, some people will agree with, while others will try and shout you down over, because you tell it like you see it…as you always have.
The Internet is constantly evolving and if you want to make it as a newbie for instance, you have to take notice of what is happening now and not go down the old road that others tread so happily until things like the ‘Google Slaps’curtailed that type marketing, which was of no use to the consumer as such.
I have made a post called ‘The New “Slim Jim Edwards” 2009 Marketing Predictions’ on my blog at http://www.tednewman.name telling people about the video and encouraging them to come visit and enjoy it.
As an ex serviceman myself (R.A.F.) I can only offer my sincere best wishes for the recovery of your son-in-law. I’m sure he’s in good hands and that you will look after him and your daughter and grandson.
Again a great video with quality content…the only thing questionable about it is why you are wearing your friend’s (Mike Stewart) Hawian Shirt?…Give him it back you need a new slimmer version!
Cheers
Ted Newman
Hello Jim, Thank’s for the great comment!. I am still learning, But i do have to say Jim, this is great stuff that you put out each and every time you post something. It’s hard to find good content on the web now day’s, that you can actually learn the truth from. I dont mean to sound like Judge Judy!, but you teach the Truth, and Nothing But The Truth!.
You are the reason I bought my new car, from teaching me how to run my money on auto pilot. Sometimes i tend to think that your not just my teacher, but my (Judge and Pilot) also. You not only gave me the key’s to your learning Vault, but i also, got the key’s to a new car from running and applying what i have taken from your Vault. You always give the good deals Jim, kinda reminds me of like- (Three for a Dollar), instead of the same cheap old 2 for a dollar.
Thank’s Alot Jim!
Hello Again Jim, One of the most important thing’s that i have ever learned from you, is to apply everything one step at a time. This is the method i chose, When i first purchased and watched over your shoulder throughout your entire Mini-Site Creator Platnium Course. Now i am a mini-site creating machine! This is why it is so important everyone, not to treat Jim’s Vault at the,(THENETREPORTER.COM) like a bank, Where your supposed to run in the vault, and grab all the good green stuff. and run.
The best way i found to enter Jim’s Vault, is the way Jim taught me, which is enter with (Caution), and treat it as if there was no security guard on duty. Then slowly look around, go in and grab just one thing, and run like you never ran before, and go apply it. By entering Jim’s Vault this way, you can always come back at night, and grab some more when the guard is not on duty! Just dont let the Guard catch you!.
Soon you will be on the road to making alot of money undercover. Also when returning back to Jim’s Vault, you will find many more new doors, that you didn’t even know existed! I think it’s a very exciting journey this way, and also the trip last’s much longer with alot more money in your pocket, to just keep moving!
Great stuff Jim! THANKS for sharing! You are one of the real people out there. I love your NO BULLSHIT approach. Unfortunately I had to opt out of your membership temporarily. I have been in this “world” for a year now and struggled a lot. However I truly feel I am just a few feet from that MotherLoad strike so giving up now would be a mistake. I have had to cut expenses but be assured when I get back in the money yours will be the first one I rejoin. I am also one of the “Happy People” with good filters and I am fine tuning them more because a lot of the “Gurus” (I hate that term) are proving to have clay feet. They cannot even support the products they have before moving on to the next and leaving them in “Beta” (I wrote an article on my blog about Beta releases in fact and what BS they are).
Anyway off the soap box and back to the pick and shovel!
Jim,
It was enjoyable to watch your predictions and what your experience tells you 2009 is going to be all about.
Once again, I would like to thank you and Mike Stewart for getting me into Online Video. I could give you a current Testimonial, but suffice it to say that since November of 2005 when you got me into it…IT HAS MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE AT GRANDCANYON.COM!!!
Now, I heard your prediction…and yes, Video won’t work for everyone and every product…but, for the Grand Canyon…let’s just say IT WORKS!!!
On to my contribution to this conversation, I believe in 2009 you are going to have to give a lot more value before you get a return. The Law of Reciprocation from Robert Cialdini’s book “Influence” will be there…I just think you are going to have to give much more thru this next economic time period to get the trust. I think that is part of the mindset that underlies the trends you are recommending.
Thanks for the thoughtful presentation…and you kept it rowdy without Chris Zavadowski to egg you on!!!
Take Care Jim,
Karlyn
P.S.-You’ve re-motivated me to use Camtasia 6.0 this year too!
Sorry for the double identical posts. Since, it didn’t show up when I submitted it, I did it again. You may delete one.
Sorry again,
Sally
Hello Jim:
I don’t know you very well, but I listen to the video & I think I like you. You are so straight forward. I loved it
Hey Jim!
Spot-on insight.
Really liked the PIP aspect; makes the passion of your rants come through even better!
THANK YOU for verbalizing my impressions about Twitter and it’s true non-value for serious business folks! Great idle entertainment for those who have tons of extra time to burn on their hands, but some of us are just too darn busy building lists, creating products, writing articles and all the stuff that actually attracts solid relationships and supports serious businesses to waste time on such foolishness.
Thanks too for sharing your 2009 roadmap. I have no doubt that this year is going to be a real BLAST!!
Gabrielle
Finally ! Someone who agrees with me (and the rest of the sane world) that twitter is a total crock !
Thanks Jim. You rock !
Jim,
Great stuff- BUT… let me tell you a useful method of leveraging twitter that has worked well for me.
I have the twitter app in my facebook account, which up-dates the status. I use tweetlater.com and create a weeks worth of tweets, most of them personal development and success quotes, some of them invitations to my blog etc.
I enter 3 a day. It takes me about 10 minutes a week, no kidding (it took me a while to collect all the quotes in the beginning though).
So tweetlater up-dates twitter, twitter up-dates the status feed, and lots of my facebook friends respond positively to the quotes, plus I get traffic from facebook as well as twitter.
I log into twitter once a day and review the entries quickly, and have found some great stuff, including:
-other marketers that have become guests on my weekly training call
-useful products
-I have discovered people in my niche and invited them to follow me, so my followers are targeted.
So I spend very little time but have gotten a lot of value out of it.

Hi Jim
Started watching your video the other day, but had to get to the day job, unfortunately, so only just watched it all the way through.
I recognise myself as one of the ‘bitter buyers’ and yes, I have started asking for refunds. What niggles me is that the sales letter may show an account taking in thousands of dollars a month? What it doesn’t show and what you don’t find out until you buy the product is how many expenses you have to shell out to gain that income? And when you’re talking about adwords and ppc it’s like a lottery where you could blow all of your project money in a couple of days!
Thanks to your video I am going to do a lot of unsubscribing and sit down and think about my future on the internet and how I want it to go, think about what I want and how I’m going to achieve it?
Great video…thanks again
Regards…Henry
Hi Jim,
Great video very informative! You covered alot of things I have been thinking about, especially article marketing!
Thanks,
Darryl
Jim, I’m learning alot from you and Mike Stewart, (whom I met in New York). I do have expertise with helping people lose weight. You stated that you want to lose 30 lbs. I can help you. No bullshit, as you would say. Over the last year I have found effective results with over 100 of my patients.
No cost, just knowledge shared. If you are interested, let me know.

Jim,
Classic “wicked-killer wit” once again from the true Real Deal. Count me in the camp of those who agree with your views. Though I must confess I never even looked at what Twitter was, and you’ve saved me the time now. Thanks for that.
For those who have never had the pleasure of meeting and spending any time with Jim, I can attest that, Yes, Jim is exactly just like that in real “off-camera” life, and pretty damn good at paintball as well – he held off a half dozen opponents by himself for a good twenty minutes. (Jon, by the way, single-handedly took out the entire opposing force’s command leadership!) Jim proves that being “real” and providing value works.
As for TNR, it is The BEST membership site source for “How To and Why To” information that has been developed, tested, tweaked and deployed by Jim himself and his expert guests. I cannot imagine any conceivable circumstance that would cause me to ever cancel — other than my departure from the planet, which I hope occurs long after Jim’s
eventual deserved retirement. Satisfied? Damn straight I am.
Yes, TNR actually is that good & you should join if you haven’t already. I know that I am not the only member who has “actually made money on the internet” following Jim’s easy and actionable step by step information. Yep, I am an advocate.
So keep up your “Mission and Purpose” and the insights coming our way, Jim. It is sincerely appreciated and highly valued.
To Your Continued Successes,
Kevin “Paintball Cannon-Fodder” Halloran
Hey Jim -
Take it easy on twitter.
I’ve made $10 from a twitter post this year – and it’s only the first week of December.
Love to all.
Jim Edwards…I like your style!
You know how you can tell whether a list owner is serious and sincere about building a relationship with his people?
He’s present. If there’s a forum, he’s in it. If he has a blog, he actually responds to the comments. He’s there where his people are…not sitting up his ivory tower looking down on the masses.
Too many ‘gurus’ give nothing more than lip service when it comes to ‘building a relationship’. It speaks volumes to me that you address your blog comments. It tells your people that you actually read what they say.
Do we expect you to answer every single comment? Not at all…it’s just nice to know that you are indeed ‘present’ when our opinions, comments, and concerns are voiced.
Stellar presentation as always on your video.
Honey
Jim – Absolutely LOVE your Twitter comments! I looked long and hard at it and thought I was the crazy one by not being able to see the value in it when every single “guru” out there is screaming to jump on onboard. You’re SO, SO right and I don’t care what anybody else says – they’ve been brainwashed.
Contrarian here on the twitter thing. Its not a one size fits all deal, but its close. Its usefulness or lack there of depends on a couple things.
First, twitter is what you make of it. If self promotion is the only game, twitter will quickly become worthless, as twitters will block posts pretty fast if all one tweats are self promotions. If traffic building is your game, twitter is likewise pretty useless, at least without doing a lot of extra work. If building a herd and reaching out into new arena’s is your focus, twitter can be a partial solution, but one has to be careful of the preaching to the choir type thing. Beyond that, there are a multitude of innovative uses, ranging from time management (the recently closed iwantsandy was amazing), to mashups of previously connected people, to ministry, to scientific data sharing, to market research and trends, to customer service, to niche expanding to whatever… If one looks at twitter as a tool, and is willing to push the envelope, there is a lot of potential, yet as a canned generic solution, one is likely to be disappointed, or at a minimum overwhelmed with noise. I agree, short of a few friends and family, knowing what one ate, or what ones dog did has little value.
Secondly, one has to look at strategy, and whether twitter can support ones subgoals or not. For the vast majority of internet marketing types, my guess is, it may not, or at least not without significant extra work. Outside of that domain, or as an adjunct to an existing business process perhaps even related to internet marketing, again, there is great potential… but there is significant extra work involved, and time spent to do so may have been better spent in other arenas, again depending upon business strategy etc.
Jim,
Loved the videos! I really like the multiple video format you used! I got your Video program with the video Guy a few years back. Great stuff. You were right about video getting BIG online before it happened, and I’m sure you will be right about your new predictions too.
Keep up the good work!
Doug West

Great stuff, Jim!
I’m glad I took the time to watch it. It has confirmed so many of the trends that I have been seeing over the past few years since I started learning about IM.
So many of your comments hit home and have reinforced my own path in the marketplace. For example, real, valuable content delivered via article marketing, videos and screen captures to build a relationship with your list. As a matter of fact, I just purchased Camtasia 6.0 yesterday.
I’m also glad to hear from Jim Edwards that Twitter is a real piece of time-wasting crap. Totally agree with you.
How much can you really say in 140 charcaters? Whatever you say can’t be too damn important. It’s like starting up your car to drive to the end of the driveway!
BTW, your whiteboard delivery is great — it allowed me to take 5 pages of notes.
Rainer
Jim, I thought your trends video was spot on…especially RE: using video. I work primarily with women small business owners and we’re really responding more to multimedia. I’m spicing up all my sales letters with a Camtasia piece.
My latest test is at http://www.passion2prosperitybook.com
Jim,
I love the addition of your video within the screen capture. Your message was right on. I agree with all you say. By the way you look terrific! Losing another 30 lbs might be too much. Keep up your good works. You are just about the only person I listen to.
Jim,
You are one of the very, very, very few marketers who have
a free video, ask for responses and actually reply to the
feedback. Most times it seems to be people responding, but
the marketer doesn’t actually read or respond.
I assume that is why you have such a loyal following. We all
know you actually care about us; what we do and what we need to make it online.
Thanks!
Mary
Hi Guys,
I really appreciate your comments and feedback… and I’m humbled by your compliments too
Ok, I’ll open my mind back up a little when it comes to Twitter as far as *some* possibility of value
And I guess we’ll all meet back her in Dec 2009 to see if I was right or not when it comes to these predictions!
Happy Holidays!
Jim
Way to go, Jim! Thank you for your current viewpoints and up-beat reminders!!
Great stuff Jim. I agree really liked what you said about blogging. I can’t wait to hear more of your predictions on the 2009 Prediction call (http://www.predictioncall.com)
Hiya Jim,
Your video was KICK-BUTT, as always.
I don’t know anyone else out there that would be willing to give out as much info away for nothing as you’ve just done. Bravo!
I just love how you tell it like it is! Skipping all the unessasary hype & crap. It’s always somewhat entertaining & at the same time jam-packed with “juicy” info!
‘Loved’ the 2008 mosted hyped award… ha ha…
Your TNR website is the bomb!… simmply the BEST membership site on the PLANET that i’ve come across… & I hope it stays that way!
I’ve learnt so much from your webinars already… they ALWAYS “ROCK”! Never a dull moment with ‘em.
All I can say… is that “you’re the man!”
Can’t wait to see what products you’ll be launching next…
I’m truly glad that I found your site.
(In my eyes) you’re a pure genius!
Here’s wishing you & your family… a wonderful festive holiday break & look forward to hearing from you again in ’09.
With warmest regards,
Shaun from NZ
Right on, Jim!! Thanks for being so open and honest. Wish others would follow your lead instead of all the hype such as million dollar homes, multi million dollar yachts and so on. Unless we all have our heads in the clouds believing that the same could happen overnight for us — well, you get my drift, I’m sure. Just getting a little tired of the same old stuff. We all know that it takes honest workdays to make honest dollars; we just need to put to work some of the ideas we’ve been learning from people such as you. Again, thanks bunches
Thanks Jim for a very informative and entertaining video. I’m just getting around to watching it now and I’m glad that it was still available. I agree with your explanation on the three categories people fall into once they become aware of who’s promoting stuff, etc. I am still a beginner and I am building my herd day-by-day and there are only a few people who I choose to listen to, and you are definitely one of them. Thanks for creating this video.
Question: Would you happen to know of any internet marketing support groups that meet offline, I live in NYC. With so many pieces to the puzzle to keep up with, it would be helpful to have a group of like-minded individuals to support and share information with. Any feedback will be appreciated. Have a great holiday.
Jim,
Great video. I’m somewhat of a “newbie” in actually getting a blog going; just started using video; and building a list. It was “heartwarming” to know that my partner and I have started down the right path and have incorporated some of the hot trends already! Thank you for your insights and information.
By the way you look fabulous. I thought you lost weight and was pleased to hear you did. Did you do something in particular that helped?
Keep on doing your best. I for one am appreciating it greatly. A fan from afar,
Linda
Damn Jim,you always provide real value.
I watch your webinars more than any other webinars, I actually finish them.
Keep that information coming…
Terrance Charles
BTW Jim, I was thinking about that same “first name” issue where people would only use “email address” only. It does increase subscription, but why would you really want to have only email addresses without real firstnames?
I thought about that for the increase in conversion, but I prefer to have first name because that’s how you personalize and you’ll get to know your subscribers over time too. It’s good that you brought that up though…

Thanks for your candid, experienced and delightfully outspoken views. I’m in the overwhelmed, can’t quite get started, somewhere between bitter and happy, because the filters are starting to go up for sanity. I will not give up, and you have given me much confirmation that many of my gut feelings have been right, although they flew in the face of what I’ve been taught. 2009 will be my year to get out of the wide eyed, spent too much money on crap group and into the income producing group
And I laughed out loud about your hype award — I couldn’t agree more!
You will always get through my filters
Ever so appreciatively,
Diann and Tinkerbell the Yorkie
@ BigJim – got a question for you.
I’m totally with you on Twitter, however I’ve been having some discussions with a few others and I’m curious how you would respond to a couple points they make.
Being that I haven’t been on Twitter (nor do I want to), their biggest argument is this:
If you have researched Twitter then you should have seen the myriad posts that say that the ONLY way to truly understand Twitter is to use it. It can’t be explained and it cannot be understood without using it.
So, if you haven’t used it, I’m sorry to say that “research” isn’t enough for a well-formed opinion.
They also say:
Also, there’s the advantage of using Twitter as a marketing and branding tool. People get to know me, know what I stand for, know what I’m like and what I might be like to work with.
I would love to hear how you would respond to these comments as I sorta feel ganged up on.
Thanks and I’m a recent customer (7 day ebook) and love your blog.
Jim, that 2009 prediction/trends video has to be one of the best free videos I have seen in a long time. I like the way you call it as you see it. I’m really impressed.
Thx again, Mike Bresee
Jim,
Great video, with (I think) spot on predictions for the next year.
One subject you hit on that really has gotten “under my skin”, is the “super-hyped” product launches! I have done exactly what you illustrated – I have BLOCKED emails and information from a couple of the “guru” IM out there. I even go so far as when I see an email from them, DELETE immediately!
One question I do have?
What type of membership/continuity software do you use or recommend?
Thanks again,
Mike
Jim,
As always, great content! Wishing you all the best in 2009 and wishing good health to your brother in law. Keep the faith.
Thanks,
Judith
Hey Jim,
Thanks for the video. As usual it is dead on.
For the doubting Thomas’s(bitter) about Jim I have been a member of TNR since it first came out and I will be late with my mortage payment before I miss the TNR payment.
Congrats on the weight loss.
I am glad to hear Jon is doing better.
May 2009 be even better for you and your family
chuck
If you are not a member to Jim’s Net Reporter, you are really missing out. This is one example but multiply it by 5 for the paid site. Now, get off Twitter and get to Jim’s site.
